Nigel Coates's chandelier emphasises movement at Milan Design Week 2023

For Milan Design Week 2023, Nigel Coates is presenting the Paralumen Chandelier at Rho Fiera Hall 9 (Stand 203). Rich in concept and gravity-defying in execution, this airy, animated chandelier puts the emphasis on movement. It is inspired by natural phenomena like the ability of plants to interact with their environment—how they attract pollinators and disperse their seeds. A central bell-like structure supports multiple handmade swirling sails that mask a halo of micro LED lamps. Paralumen's inherent elegance arises from its paired-down organic outline bedecked in exemplary silk shade-making. It is available in six or 10 sail versions and in four silk colours. The brass structure of the chandelier is finished in gunmetal.
