Nada Debs presents Carapace table at CTMP Design auction

Cambi Casa d’Aste in collaboration with the Milanese design consultancy Mr. Lawrence presents the contemporary collectible design auction CTMP Design Auction. For the first time in Milan, an extraordinary selection of internationally renowned designers such as Nendo, Fernando and Humberto Campana, Sabine Marcelis, India Mahdavi, Richard Hutten and Zaha Hadid, will be presented together with the names of emerging talents such as Anna Aagaard Jensen, Diego Faivre and Tellurico to provide a complete photograph of the panorama of contemporary research and collection design. Lebanese designer Nada Debs exhibits the carapace dining table with marquetry inlay for the auction.

Excerpts from Cambiaste*: A synergy between the organic markings of nature and the rational lines of geometry, the Carapace tables play with exaggerated cellular patterns through the craft of marquetry whereby subtle shifts in wood veneers emphasize the shell-like patterns. The grey tones of the shifted oak veneers envelope the rounded edges of the table, a challenge for the craftsman to attain. For the CTMP auction, the pattern is further emphasised using black and white marquetry strips that add another layer of pattern to the intricate piece.

A wide range of types will be offered in the auction- from pots to upholstered furniture, from lamps to coat hangers, with an important focus on carpets. The selection of the pieces, rigorously produced in the 2000s, is by the Milanese studio Mr. Lawrence. Objective: to take stock of the situation of contemporary design also through the production of a digital (available on the Cambi website) and paper catalogue that offers a point of reference on the international scene and becomes a useful catalogue raisonné regarding names, trends, market and news.
