Marca Corona Showroom
Dainelli Studio has created the new showroom at the headquarters of Marca Corona, the oldest ceramics company in Sassuolo, which since 1741 has combined history and innovation, passion and technical prowess, territorial identity and internationalisation.
These elements have driven the work of the architecture studio, which has imagined the display space as a large residential villa with a garden, a place that is both intimate and sophisticated, in which guests can feel completely at home.
The collections of Marca Corona intersect and contribute to creating a unique identity for the space, offering suggestions on the matching of forms, variations and colours. The ceramic tiles are seen at their best in combination with furnishings selected by Marzia and Leonardo Dainelli: a mixture of modern vintage and lighting from the 1960s and contemporary items by design firms of Made in Italy, including Gallotti&Radice, Lema and Talenti. For the showroom, Dainelli Studio has also created a custom collection, with pieces covered in Marca Corona ceramics: coffee tables, benches and larger tables that insert the products inside a wider-ranging concept of living.
A large black portal leads into the interior of 300 sqm, the heart of the home of Marca Corona: an open, extremely luminous and airy space, thanks to large windows that connect it to the outside, in which the architects have created domestic settings typical of an elegant villa: the living area, the dining room, the master suite, the bathroom and the atelier.
The large frontal wall has been set up with ceramic panelling of different colours and textures, equipped with mobile shelving where the tile samples of Marca Corona become decorative features. The passage from one zone to the next is fluid, defined by full-height double-face open partitions clad in ceramic tile, separating without creating boundaries, and by the alternation of flooring across the various rooms. Five rotating panels covered in tile with a wood and cement effect lead to the atelier, conceived as the “study” of a home, containing the materials library, complete with the entire indoor collection of Marca Corona, and a large work table.
The Dehors is a large outdoor area of 600 sqm, organised on multiple levels, each enhanced by different ceramics, which together create a new, original mixture of forms and colours.
This space hosts two gazebos: the first, near the interior, contains a spacious living area with a peninsula sofa, small tables and armchairs; the other is a convivial and commercial space at the same time, with a small, more private salon and a wall on which to display samples from the outdoor collections of Marca Corona.
The showroom, open to the public starting in September 2022, represents the first phase of a larger restyling of the headquarters of Marca Corona in Sassuolo, which will be completed next year.
