MDF Italia is turning thirty: an occasion to look back and rediscover its essential values. Founded in 1992 by Bruno Fattorini and owned by the holding company of the Cassina family since 2008, the company has based its evolution on innovation, breaking stereotypes and the ability to achieve a combination of forms in which hi-tech research and development meets aesthetic innovation.

On the occasion of Salone del Mobile 2022, creative duo Meda-Quincoces set the mood and layout and the styling of the Cameranesi Pompili studio, a set of abstract decorative objects in dialogue with new MDF Italia designs and the surrounding space. The design process aspires to create a welcoming environment, dominated by soft, flowing lines that envelop the space and define a new human dimension, encouraging visitors to interact with the furniture itself. The starry booth is set to showcase two distinctive chairs - a family of seats designed by Jean-Marie Massaud for MDF Italia and the other, an experimental rendition of the iconic designer's Neil Chair by Jacob Cohën.

The Universal Chair by Massaud stands out for its impeccably elegant lines and extraordinary ergonomics. The chair and the armchair come with a wooden body and an upholstered backrest. The three-dimensional back for both the pieces are the focal point of the seating consisting of two curved elements pressed from a mechanical mould, then coupled and assembled with a procedure that echoes the refined savoir-faire of the luthier. The concept was developed from a study on the curving of the wood which led to the definition of an innovative, now patented technology in which industrial design and craftsmanship merge. This system, in addition to producing a unique design, also ensures an unprecedented level of comfort and first-class ergonomics. The design takes its name, above all, from the disc of the seat, the beating heart of the piece, designed to accommodate different types of bases and backrests, so lending itself over time to the development of an infinite variety of possible configurations. The universal chair is presented in this initial phase with legs in solid wood and a scope of two finishes or die-cast aluminium available in three colours and can be subjected to customisation owing to the many combinations of textiles available, proving the perfect creative synthesis of functionality and fine aesthetics. In this way, Universal Chair opens a new chapter of the collaboration between MDF Italia and Jean-Marie Massaud which began back in 2009 with the Flow family of seatings.

In another collaborative exposition, the essential design of MDF Italia meets the exquisite craftsmanship of Jacob Cohën in Neil Denim, the new denim edition of an iconic chair by Jean-Marie Massaud- the Neil chair. The clean lines, extreme versatility and structural simplicity of the Neil Collection have allowed MDF Italia to constantly renew the collection over the years, offering new finishes for the design developed by Jean-Marie Massaud. This denim version is the latest, most important demonstration of this. The Neil Denim chair is part of the new MDF Italia proposals to be launched during the Milan design week, through a series of events organised by the brand at Salone del Mobile 2022 as well as at Fuorisalone 2022.

The Universal chair and the Neil denim chair will be a part of MDF Italia's display at the Salone del Mobile fairgrounds Hall 16 Stand B15 C16, Fiera Milano Rho. The Neil chair will also be on showcase at Jacob Cohen's boutique via Della Spiga, 29.
