Italian designer Luca Nichetto commemorates the re-opening of Hermès flagship store in Milano with a bespoke window display that interprets the Hermès 2021 theme – “An Odyssey” – through an installation entitled “Mythological Renaissance,” depicting four mythological tales set against paradoxical themes.

The first window, ‘Labyrinth Palace’, is inspired by Ariadne’s labyrinth in the Minotaur myth. The second window, “The Unknown Behind The Door” features an eye and a nose, hovering above the hand-painted scene in the best Italian tradition, which is symbolic of the Cyclops myth. “The New Theater”, the third scene designed for the boutique is seen as a protagonist: a modern depiction of one of Ulysses’ syrens. The fourth and final display “Infinity journey” views the thread that ties together the four windows wrap around celestial objects and disappear behind a mysterious door, leaving the end of this tale to free interpretation and continuation.

If you happen to be in Milano, make sure you drop by via Monte Napoleone, 12 to experience it in person. The bespoke windows will be on display until the end of September 20
