Belgian furniture designer Tim Vranken specialises in solid, handcrafted pieces using genuine natural processes and pure materials in all the designs. The outcome is a striking interaction of shapes and lines, characterised by pure, geometrical shapes in which junctions play a vital role or even become the most distinctive feature.
Vranken’s latest furniture design, launched at the COLLECTIBLE 2024 in Brussels, the ARA Pool Table introduces an innovative perspective on the design of a traditional pool table, pushing the boundaries of pool table design and craftsmanship. By meticulously reducing the thickness of the tabletop to its minimum, the design aims to evoke a sense of lightness and sophistication.
The 460 kg structure is supported by solid wooden interlocking tubes, through a cruciform wood joint. Within this cross, a symmetrical halving of the legs occurs. This results in an intriguing interplay of lines and shapes that becomes visible from various perspectives.
