SICIS, renowned in the luxury decoration world for the last 35 years is well-known as a trendsetter of decoration materials. Driven by passion, artistry, and history, SICIS strives to elevate ancient mosaic tradition by infusing it with a contemporary aesthetic and experimenting with diverse applications. A focus on craftsmanship and tradition in their work has also led to their exploration of furniture pieces, from hand-carved consoles, armchairs, and mirrors made according to rare workmanship and knowledge. In 2023, the Italian brand debuted an impressive array of new surfaces in brilliant colours, tesselations, and configurations. STIR enlists everything the brand embellished in the last year.

Pieces

For the Stone collection, slabs of precious marble, onyx, and selected stones are cut and put together with inserts in an artistic mosaic that feature precious metalwork in glass paste.

Backlit panels emit light in semi-transparency in the design for the Nitelite collection. Through transparent or semi-transparent glass mosaic or glass sheets, these backlit dividers become glowing decorative elements for any space.

Hand-made portraits of women in artistic mosaic and Vetrite set the Shades collection apart. While the timeless beauty of precious stones, volcanic rocks and lunar landscapes in 38 variations generate an enchanting play of light for Vetrite Gem Glass. The surface gives off a soft glow because of the use of Vetrite glass, which can be created with a gradation of colour and also in curved profiles.

The Crystal collection allows the creation of new decoration solutions, both for indoor and outdoor projects, and is customisable. From arabesque designs to multicoloured motifs, the collection can be moulded to suit any aesthetic.

Made by expert craftsmen, the Diamond collection goes beyond the traditional shape of the standard mosaic chip. Using the shape of a diamond crystal as inspiration, the rhombus-shaped tesserae open new possibilities in creating complex geometrical or floral patterns on any surface. In addition, the collection is enriched by three-dimensional inserts made of transparent or opalescent crystal paste that allow other combinations in more than 60 colours.

The Basic collection, made by mosaic masters in SICIS’ Ravenna workshop brings together the solidity of marble and the lovely lightness of mother of pearl together with the iridescence of glass. The collection is offered in various exclusive and fascinating compositions.

Marbles and natural stones in predominantly geometric elements characterise the Cosmati collection. The collection is named after a mosaic technique used by Roman marble workers of the 12th and 13th centuries, using polychrome marble inlays of geometric and imaginative shapes.

Apart from their dazzling surfaces, SICIS debuted a mini furniture collection, Fluxus which includes a Buffet and Console. While the Fluxus Buffet is sleek and linear with soft curves, the Console is characterised by sinuous lines.

Their other new furniture design, the Mars coffee table is created with Vetrite glass and wood. A modern table with a refined design that is suitable for any elegant and luxurious living room.

Events to remember

SICIS’s collection launch at Salone del Mobile 2023 in Milan was centred around the Greek word: eklektikos which translates to “choosing what one thinks is best among different things.” Embracing this idea of eclecticism in design, the brand presented a milieu of different pieces with unique styles, from modular designs (like the Zeno modular system) to the debut of their new textile collection, made with the jacquard technique in a floral style. The textile designs add to their varied collection of furniture pieces, surfaces, and lighting.
