The strong relationship between the past, the present, and the future is one of the pillars of SICIS and has always intrigued the luxury design brand. The processing and production of mosaics, a time-honoured technique that has evolved into a contemporary and adaptable coating solution, was the inception of everything. And the mosaic is exactly what this year's presentation begins with. Visitors are allowed to relive SICIS’s history through display panels and screens that show motivational pictures and technical tutorials. From the oldest to the newest collections of marble and glass, with odd shapes like crystal rhombuses and diamond lozenges, appear on the screens. The journey leads to the latest and never-before-seen collections: Trigono and Ragtime.

As its title implies, Trigono features triangular-shaped tesserae that may be combined by switching position and colour to create various artistic possibilities. Ragtime, on the other hand, is influenced by the eponymous musical style developed in the United States towards the end of the 19th century. The syncopated and intricate rhythms were developed by the African American community and is often considered a precursor of jazz. The designs of the ceramic tiles alternate between thin and thick lines in a combination of vertical and horizontal, similar to how the scores alternate short and long notes in repeated succession. As a consequence, vivid and original compositions emerge, ideal for adding a dash of style to walls and floors.

As the visitors move further along, they will chance upon panels with pixel, creative, and backlit mosaic in the area devoted to Vetrite, the enormous ornamental glass slabs patented by SICIS. The most recent addition to the brand’s oeuvre Onigem was previewed to the world at Salone del Mobile 2022. Here, Onigem is showcased in its complete range of colours. The contemporary design sits alongside the Gem Glass and Sight collections that have won over designers from across the globe in a very short time.

The 14 showcased patterns that feature hues both delicate and dramatic, draw inspiration from the veins and subtleties of the calcareous Onyx. Each colour is offered in three to four separate slabs to allow for the creation of more elaborate compositions without requiring a book match programme. Lastly, Tile, the scaled-down counterpart of Vetrite, finds its spot in the presentations. The new designs draw their inspiration from conventional Italian ceramics but with metallic shades and material perceptions typical of the Vetrite line. SICIS ushers the visitors along this journey of its extensive roster of coating products, following its motto, ‘Shaping the future by moulding the past’. Among the participating brands at Cersaie 2022 are Fiandre Architectural Surfaces and ABK.

As part of Cersaie 2022, SICIS is currently showcasing at Hall 22, Stand A98-B87 in FieraBologna, Italy from September 26, 2022, to September 30, 2022.
