The Pivot lighting system by Fukusada was on display at the Italian brand Axolight's stand at Euroluce for Milan Design Week 2023. The beauty of the lighting design lies in the infinite styling and lighting possibilities, all of which can be created starting from a single lighting spot. The Pivot system is defined by three structural elements: a small cylinder, whose shape resembles the Japanese hishaku, containing the LED source and a lens, two stacked pivoting rings which allow the interconnection of every single lighting element using tubular metal connectors which are inserted in some holes predisposed on the rings. These elements are combined in a modular and linear system. The complete freedom of rotation of the two stacked rings makes it possible for the system to create infinite geometrical shapes, bringing light wherever needed. Consequently, Pivot becomes a playful structural element in space, very suitable to define spaces from a lighting and architectural perspective.

Fukusada participated in the iF Design Award’s 2023 edition with his minimal clock design, dubbed Relief. The designer won the iF Design Award with Relief, a porcelain wall clock that tells time through a beautiful sculptural form, featuring relief-like indicators on the gently concave clock face. Natural material porcelain, and advanced 'Ceramic Japan' pottery techniques were used to achieve a matte finish and smooth texture, which accentuates the refined form and shadow of the product design. The wall clocks are available in three types of colours for the main body: white, which best showcases the material's texture, and high-quality blue and beige, which have a matte finish and complement the shape of the main body.

STIRred 2023 wraps up the year with compilations of the best in architecture, art, and design from STIR. Did your favourites make the list? Tell us in the comments!
