Imagination is a universe. With 'Fragments of Infinity.' Treviso-based studio Giopato & Coombes presents a new exhibition at Milan Design Week 2021 project that focuses on the designer's mind, exploring the infinite possibilities of the imagination, where we can grasp fleeting moments of inspiration. In this dimension, the Milky Way collection presents creations that are both refined and essential. Aluminium, brass, Murano glass, cathedral glass, and precious material details create a dynamic dialogue between linearity and fluidity. Light takes shape in a design of compositions, between emptiness and fullness, where harmony becomes a symbol of a unique fragment of time and space.

About the designer

Giopato & Coombes Studio was founded by Italo-British duo Cristiana Giopato and Christopher Coombes in 2006. The designers constantly seek to find the synthesis between the emotion behind the conception and the pragmatism of design and innovation. This passion drives them to ardently create, to tirelessly, persistently investigate the correct mix of ingredients. “As an architect and designer we have learnt one thing fast: don’t be afraid of the potential of a blank sheet of paper, which is the darkness when designing light. Out of the blue in 2014 we found ourselves not only designing but also developing and producing our own ideas, with a two-week deadline following a six-month journey through the backstreets of Murano, for an exhibition in Milan. It was an unbelievable time which saw us open a huge can of worms! With so much experience to deal with, it was like two jugglers shifting in the air, directed by passion,” they share. (excerpts from their website: https://www.giopatocoombes.com/our-own-story/)
