Urania: a robot-sculpted chair by contemporary Italian designer Pietro Franceschini

by Galerie Philia
Published on : Sep 09, 2021

Urania is the latest work by Pietro Franceschini, presented during the Milan Design Week 2021 exclusively for Galerie Philia. This marble piece demonstrates experimentation within his research on sculptural furniture and neotenic design. The chair is robot-sculpted in Carrara from a single block of Breccia di Capraia marble and refined by hand. Here for the first time, the pure and rigorous geometry of Pietro’s work gets deformed and speaks a more organic language.
