Galleria d’arte Maggiore announces "Fuori dal buio dell'armadio", an art installation by Italian artist Sissi at Chiostro del Bramante in Rome, Italy. The installation translates to ‘out of the darkness of the closet’ and is a part of a broader group exhibition titled, ‘Crazy - La follia nell'arte contemporanea', curated by art critic Danilo Eccher. The group exhibition explores the themes of ‘madness in contemporary art’ presenting the works of 21 artists who have created 11 different installations. ‘Crazy’ went on display on the 19th of February at the 16th-century renaissance building, the Chiostro del Bramante, displayed across the building’s interior and exterior spaces and is going to be on exhibition until the 8th of January next year.

Sissi’s contemporary art installation has been created by putting together 180 dresses, which are all a part of a broader artwork that's been in the making since 1995. ‘Archivio Addosso’ is a growing archive of all the clothes and accessories created and designed by Sissi over the past 27 years. The archive contains clothing that the artist still wears in her everyday life, breaking down the walls between art and function, by converting the aspects of self-expression in style and observing it as art. Archivo Addosso is open to visitors at Maggiore g.a.m. in the city of Bologna, Italy.

Other artists presenting at Crazy - madness in contemporary art are Carlos Amorales, Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir / Shoplifter, Massimo Bartolini, Gianni Colombo, Petah Coyne, Ian Davenport, Janet Echelman, Fallen Fruit / David Allen Burns and Austin Young, Lucio Fontana, Anne Hardy, Thomas Hirschhorn, Alfredo Jaar, Alfredo Pirri, Gianni Politi, Tobias Rehberger, Anri Sala, Yinka Shonibare, Sissi, Max Streicher, Pascale Marthine Tayou, Sun Yuan & Peng Yu.

Madness and art are similar forces, both refuse to submit to the existing frameworks and regime, and rebel against any form of authority. Chiostro del Bramante’s cultural activities institution, Dart requested Danilo Eccher to showcase art that refuses to conform. No ordinary or predictable steps can be taken when it comes to pushing the boundaries of contemporary art. Works by Ian Davenport and Fallen Fruit invade the gallery space of the renaissance building with their immersive colours. Crazy - madness in contemporary art is a complex, emotive, ambiguous story, an open and interactive environment; a display of artworks dispersed through the isolated spaces of Chiostro del Bramante, invading the areas typically excluded from the museum pathway.
