The Home collection has a history that began two years ago, when Ana Milena Hernández Palacios and Christophe Penasse, founders of the Spain-based design studio Masquespacio, purchased a home in Valencia that needed to be renovated in the middle of a natural setting. The interior of the property and a fresh selection of furnishings as well as other items for the designer duo's new residence were being designed by Hernández. This interior design by Masquespacio was on showcase at this year's Maison&Objet (September 7 - 11, 2023), providing attendees with a live sneak peek of the furniture designers’ everyday environment.
The presentation at the design fair was suffused with a vibe of their colourful home, presenting among others, the sofa and lounge chairs from their living room as well as a room divider made in-house, using local wood and natural paints, alongside chair designs. The exhibition also displayed a custom-made table design and a variety of ceramic objects full of contrasting forms and textures. Next to this, the CONO collection highlighted the very first, official items that the interior and product design studio created in their new, in-house workshop called Mas Creations, which combines 3D technology with craftsmanship.
With Mas Creations, Hernández and Penasse wanted to show their personal and independent view on art and design, without being tied down to a briefing. Their aim was to experiment with more than they had before, and subsequently, seek new challenges by creating novel objects and wooden furniture that bring fresh experiences while questioning the regular. The collection of products and projects narrates a story represented by a universe of forms, textures, colours, and materials. The Home collection of furniture designs is also a product of Mas Creations, through which, the product designers sell their collections produced in-house, as well as collaborations carried out with brands such as Hoff and Monoprix.
