On the occasion of the Lake Como Design Festival this year, Italian brand Davide Groppi illuminates the 'LIGHT' temporary restaurant at the Serra del Grumello (greenhouse) curated by the Michelin Star chef Samuel Carugati. From September 15 - 22, 2024, a noble structure from the mid-19th century in iron and cast iron is set up, featuring windows of great value, full of charm for the particular relationship generated between space and light. Lightness is the filruge of this new design event that accompanies the visitor on a widespread journey to discover exhibitions, site-specific installations and special projects in the city of Como and around its lake.
'Lightness'
To illuminate the temporary restaurant, the Italy-based brand used some of its classics, employing what they call the 'fundamental states of light' to create an emotional journey capable of revealing new points of view, surprising angles and details.
The soft and enveloping suggestion of Moon gives a dreamy atmosphere and celebrates the beauty of the place; TeTaTeT, with its direct light, is proposed on the table as an ingredient of the kitchen and as a convivial element; Origine indirect light sculpts and enhances climbing plants of the ficus repens genus. The niches and a basin with water are emphasised by the blue light that generates depth. Sampei, in its elegant new outdoor XXL version and new Magic Blue finish, illuminates the threshold of the greenhouse; Bugia captures the gaze creating a delicate diffused light on the shelves.
Hereby, light becomes a wonderful opportunity to seduce and excite—a path to give value to nature, space and light.
Moon was created from the dream of bringing the moon inside the home. The surface in Japanese paper, applied by hand, makes every lamp design unique. The hand makes every object a unique act, an unrepeatable representation; every work is a new creation. TeTaTeT is a timeless icon with an eye on the future. Portable and rechargeable, the lighting design is an expression of freedom. With TeTaTeT, every table becomes a meeting place, a complete dining experience. Its light caresses those it illuminates with pure emotion.
Derived from the Latin word origo, which translates to 'birth' or 'source,' Origine Indoor appears like a bud emerging from the ground and soaring upwards towards the sky, a stem that becomes increasingly thinner. Mysterious and enigmatic, it combines the fascination of the unknown with the pleasure of a sophisticated and elegant ambient light. Origine sculpts and enhances every environment with its indirect light, which is intentionally non-invasive, graphic and fascinating.
Sampei Outdoor XXL is a product design obtained from a fishing flexible rod; it is a delicate and elegant sign, which brings to mind the subtle branches of a willow tree or bamboo canes floating on a light breeze. Sampei is an unexpected gift, it is the magic of looking up, using light as a hook, and being amazed by so much weightlessness. Bugia is a lightweight and soft lamp designed to enjoy wonderful diffuse light without an electrical cable.
