The city of Milan is once again protagonist of the international scene of the design world: designers, companies and universities present ideas and installations to try to imagine the future that will come, sharing solutions able to innovate and anticipate the times.
From June 6 to June 12, the city of Milan hosts the most important appointment with design. With a full calendar of events and exhibitions, Milano Design Week celebrates the future of creativity, innovation and sustainability. The event comes to life in conjunction with the Salone del Mobile, which this year celebrates the milestone of 60 editions, reflecting its commitment to the ecological transition of the furniture system.
“Between Space and Time” the theme of the 2022 edition of Fuorisalone
The June edition of Fuorisalone, entitled “Between Space and Time”, is an invitation to reflect on the changes taking place in today's world, those changes necessary to achieve sustainability goals essential to look to tomorrow.
Space and time represent two profoundly interconnected dimensions, two parameters for assessing our impact on the planet and planning concrete decisions and actions for the world to come.
The city of Milan will be the stage where designers, companies, institutions and universities will try to imagine change through design, a real activator to respond to the challenges of the contemporary world. The challenges are those shared in Glasgow last October during the COP26, the climate conference attended by almost 200 countries around the world, then recently taken up in the latest report of the IPCC, the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
The Fuorisalone will be a catalyst for the major issues facing the design sector, from urban transformation to the role of circular economy, from the spread of renewable energy to new materials and optimization of production processes, passing through the opportunities provided by the new frontiers of the web3.
“Space and time express two variables useful to evaluate our impact on the planet and plan concrete decisions and actions to design change. Design in this scenario is a real enabler, able to support the transition towards environmental sustainability. The role of the designer is to help us understand the complexity of reality, designing tools at the service of communities, imagining the relationship between physical and virtual space, in a logic of self-sufficient circular design with respect to the criticality of the contemporary,” says Paolo Casati, with respect to the choice of the theme..
