LITHEA at the Salone del Mobile / Hall 10, Stand B08 18-23 April 2023
DAL CLASSICO is the new project created by the Sicilian company Lithea, which continues its exploration of the Mediterranean through design interpretations by Astrid Luglio, Elena Salmistraro, Mario Scairato and Martinelli Venezia Studio that enhance precious marbles and stones.
Classical culture, with its harmonious shapes, elegant decorations and golden proportions, is the inspiration for the new collections of surfaces and furnishings that Lithea presents on the Milan stage: the art that spread from Greece to the entire geographical area of southern Europe in the 8th century B.C., and in particular to Sicily, is reinterpreted as marble surfaces and furnishing complements that highlight the company's materials and manufacturing skills.
The projects developed by Astrid Luglio, Elena Salmistraro, Mario Scairato and Martinelli Venezia Studio evoke distinct ideas of classicism through their diverse expressive language, recreating archaic stylistic features in a contemporary key: wall coverings, washbasins, small tables, and consoles replicate ornamental motifs and architectural elements with hyper-decorative or minimalist aesthetic results, combining different materials by playing with light/dark contrasts or creating sophisticated colour palettes.
Alongside Pietra Pece, a characteristic Sicilian stone and Lithea's hallmark since the first collection, precious marbles such as Bianco Avorio, Bianco Fenice, Verde Alpi, and Bardiglio Imperiale appear; this year also sees the addition of Travertino marble as a tribute to the sculptures and buildings of Magna Graecia.
The stand set-up, curated by Martinelli Venezia Studio - the company's art director brings together Lithea's most distinctive collections that showcase its journey through the Mediterranean, highlighting the path of creative experimentation and craftsmanship that for several years has led the company to establish itself as a reality of excellence for exclusive home and contract realisations.
