Being able to reflect contemporaneity without losing its own identity, finding the right balance between tradition and innovation in order to continue to write a family story made of Italian excellence, refined aesthetics and high customization. Lema completely renews the layout of the showroom inside the Alzate Brianza headquarters, welcoming in its spaces the iconic furnishings of the company and the latest news. The project, curated by the architect and designer Piero Lissoni, art director Lema since 1994, involved all areas of the showroom from the ground floor, to the mezzanine floor, to the grand staircase. The exhibition concept puts in dialogue the past and the present of the Italian company, with the aim of returning an image faithful to the identity of Lema that tells the road traveled and the present, while at the same time giving a glimpse of the aspirations for the future. "Piero Lissoni has managed to update, once again, the image of our showroom to the new language of Lema with a complete restyling of the exhibition area, where the furnishings that have made the history of our company dialogue harmoniously with the latest news. This space fully represents our idea of living, where architects, interior designers and customers can live and breathe the warm and welcoming atmosphere in an ideal Lema house”, explains Angelo Meroni, President of Lema.
A large sliding door, a red handle with a geometric shape, and walls tinted with contrasting colors. Entering the showroom there is a first proposal of a living area in which the iconic Selecta bookcase by Officinadesign Lema is the background to the Venise sofa by Gabriele and Oscar Buratti, the protagonist of the living area. Proposed in an angular composition, this multifunctional furniture is dedicated to both moments of relaxation and sharing, thanks to the versatility of its components. The Venise sofa frames Dolmen, the new system of coffee tables with tops with different geometric shapes that takes up the motif of modularity. Signed by David Lopez Quincoces, this 2022 novelty is freely composed in a game of joints and chromatic shades that animate the entire space. This fluid asymmetry is emphasized by Francesco Rota's Eydo dormeuse. Characterized by an essential profile and a strong architectural spirit, Eydo is an intriguing, light and sinuous décor. The Sign coffee tables by Studio Kairos resume the metal structure, completing the space as timeless design signs.
Opposite the living area, there is the dining area where the Italian style meets influences from the north and east, offering a dining room with a strong cosmopolitan and contemporary character. Two In-Between tables designed by Ximi Li and surrounded by Fred chairs by Norm Architects seem to dance in space, reflected in the transparent glass of Christophe Pillet's Galerist windows on one side of the room.
Through a second Selecta bookcase, which completes the dining area, you can see the second proposal for the living area, whose protagonists are this time the two Glee sofas by Officinadesign Lema. Placed opposite each other, the two modular floor sofas are able to stand out for their essential lines and soft volumes, which are emphasized by the Maddix lounge armchairs placed to complete the area. Signed by Dainelli Studio, Maddix keeps alive the value of Lema's deep manufacturing culture by revealing its expressive character in the beauty of wood and leather. The warmth emanating from these two natural materials permeates the entire space thanks to the Seryasse wardrobe by David Lopez Quincoces in Canaletto walnut. Characterized by the hinged doors with a boiserie effect, Seryasse captures the attention thanks to the play of light and dark created by the lighting coming from the LT40 shelves placed on the wall that have an integrated LED lamp system. The space is completed by the tables with oval and round top Ortis by Gabriele and Oscar Buratti, placed at the service of the seats.
On the opposite side, in the center of the space, a second dining area with a highly sophisticated character. The Gullwing table by Gabriele and Oscar Buratti takes up the motif of light and dark creating plays of light and shadow thanks to the sculptural base. The Ombra chairs by Piero Lissoni, surround the table giving a touch of extreme elegance to the whole space. The area is completed by the Florens sideboard, also designed by Gabriele and Oscar Buratti, and Plain by Francesco Rota, the free-standing modular bookcase with a light and essential structure.
The day turns into the night, the conviviality gives way to cozy and relaxing atmospheres. At this point of the path inside the showroom, you can access the first proposal of a sleeping area complete with a walk-in closet with essential lines and contemporary style. The Mynight bed by Gabriele and Oscar Buratti presents itself with its generous shapes in the center of the room flanked by the Ortis tables, always signed by the architects Buratti, and the Francis tables by Norm Architects. The entire space is framed by the Nur and Dandy wardrobes by Officinadesign Lema, both characterized by an innate elegance. The Armadio al Centimetro system with Nur hinged doors is characterized by the light profile of the frame in polished anodized aluminum or bronze color that incorporates the handle proposed in the same finish. The Dandy wardrobe instead, proposed here in a version with a hinged door, is characterized by the metal perimeter frame and the wide choice of glass panels, expressing an idea of total openness and absolute lightness. The wardrobes of the Al Centimetro collection are the protagonists of the wardrobe area. In this area, Dandy is joined by Tian, the modular system entirely in glass, and by Text, the wardrobe that reveals its personality in the cut that runs along the doors along the entire height and that also acts as a handle. Signed by Officinadesign Lema, they inhabit the space together with a chest of drawers of LT40, a proposal capable of satisfying different tastes and needs by combining aesthetics and functionality placed in the center of the room.
How to make the charm of other times current. Lema presents classic furnishings revisited in a contemporary key in the second proposal of the sleeping area, a versatile and transversal space including a desk corner and walk-in closet. At first glance the attention Maddox by Dainelli Studio, the aerial bed with structure in heat-treated oak stained ash and headboard sewn in structural light leather with double front cushions. Maddox is here flanked by the tables with pure and simple lines Eydo by Francesco Rota and the essential cylindrical bedside tables, Top by Ludovica and Roberto Palomba. Behind Maddox, Steve Leung's vanity Eureka closet appears. Rethinking the notion of wardrobe in a new way, Eureka integrates perfectly into the interior of Armadio al Centimetro system in the sleeping area, giving the rooms aesthetic refinement: the unexpected is revealed in Eureka thanks to the versatility of its components, customizable in every detail. A sophisticated lifestyle through discreet glamour.
An intimate space in which to express one's personal style. Moreover, in this proposal of sleeping area there is a walk-in closet this time formed by the Hangar system by Piero Lissoni and an LT40 composition with vanity. Tailor-made microarchitecture, visualization of a state of mind and a way of understanding life and one's own spaces. Hangar follows a tailor-made idea of order and organization, while making the space warm and welcoming. At the center of the room that houses the walk-in closet, the daybed Yard by Francesco Rota reinterprets the creativity typical of 60s industrial design. The structure, made of metal covered in leather and fabric, is a top supported by feet that creates the support for the seat cushion in a harmonious contrast that becomes a fundamental aesthetic feature.
Leaving the wardrobe area, you meet Nine, the contemporary reinterpretation of the weekly classic, a column with a totemic character designed as a graphic game that hides nine different drawers, signed by Alessandro Dubini. The space is completed by two Bice armchairs defined by the dry and refined style of Roberto Lazzeroni, always in tension between the past and the future. In this sleeping area there is also a corner dedicated to the Victor desk and the Lucylle armchair both by Roberto Lazzeroni, which create an intimate space in which to give voice to one's thoughts, transcribing one's emotions.
Warm shades of beige, soft shades, and an enveloping light shines through the large windows. The first floor of the showroom ends with a large living area where the 2022 novelties inhabit the space in dialogue with the most representative furnishings of Lema. If on the one hand, the Oculus round mirrors by Analogia Project reflect the dining area composed of the Bulè table by Federica Biasi and the Fred chairs by Norm Architects, on the other the iconic Selecta bookcase is the background to the Niveaux sofa by Federica Biasi proposed in two different compositions. In the version with free backrests as well as in the one with fixed backrests, the multiple faces of Niveaux create compositions always able to express the young and fresh personality of the sofa, able to inhabit the living area with ease.
The space is completed by the Dolmen table system, by David Lopez Quincoces and two Claire lounge chairs by Norm Architects. Characterized by the high backrest and rounded shape, the Claire lounge chair invites you to sit comfortably and enjoy a moment of relaxation. In contrast to the generous padding, the metal structure is essential, embellished with solid wood armrests that add a reassuring tactility to the entire armchair. The route through Casa Lema continues. Climbing up the stairs it’s possible to access the mezzanine floor inhabited by a living area and a sleeping area, two more intimate rooms characterized by the use of wallpaper. Even the staircase has undergone complete restyling, always maintaining its industrial character but softened by custom-made wooden cladding.
The Selecta bookcase together with an LT40 wall composition outlines the perimeter of the sleeping area hosting the Warp bed by Francesco Rota, here flanked by the Vic bedside tables by Roberto Lazzeroni. With a relaxed and informal style, a balanced project built on generous shapes that describe distinctly horizontal lines, the Warp double bed finds its strength in contrast with the refined vertical sartorial seams that shape the large upholstered headboard. Poised between tradition and modernity, Vic, a bedside table with a timeless character, shares the space with the Notch pouf by Johan Lindstén, the Uma bench by Federica Biasi and two elegant Fantino armchairs signed by Gordon Guillaumier. An elegant object in its discreet aesthetics and innate versatility, Uma lightly inhabits the domestic space together with two Lucylle armchairs by Roberto Lazzeroni and the free-standing Booken bookcase by Raw Edges. The space is completed by the desk with a metal structure and oval top with Ortis drawers, and the armchair with a soft and enveloping design Ayra by Gabriele and Oscar Buratti.
The sleeping area also includes a walk-in closet created thanks to the Dandy and Armadio al Centimetro Open, designed by Officinadesign Lema. A perfect expression of the total flexibility of Lema's modular systems, Open is a proposal designed to furnish spaces in the name of maximum customization. At the center of the space, there is Cloud by Francesco Rota, the modular sofa conceived as a great game of free forms, to be combined according to one's taste, giving life to always original solutions.
The mezzanine floor of the showroom also ends with a living area with a contemporary character. The protagonists of the space are the two new 2022 sofas Glee and Groovy by Officinadesign Lema. Able to fit into any space and to dialogue with any style of furniture, Glee makes versatility its distinctive feature, adding a touch of freshness and contemporaneity to the space. At the service of the seat, the monolithic tables Francis by Norm Architects and Gullwing by Gabriele and Oscar Buratti are presented. Play of joints between rigid and soft shapes: Groovy modular sofa encloses the essence of relaxation in a slender and slender structure. Like petals that open, its armrests open slightly outwards bringing out the soft cushioning.
In this space, the sofa frames the system of Eydo coffee tables by Francesco Rota that are combined with the Alton armchairs by David Lopez Quincoces. With a sculptural character, these seats are characterized by the metal structure that defines their semicircle shape to accommodate the dry shape of the backrest characterized by the particular sartorial workmanship made with over 200 meters of aged natural leather rope rewound by hand. The entire living area is covered in its length by the Selecta bookcase by Officinadesign Lema. In addition to the living area and the sleeping area, on the mezzanine floor it is possible to visit a corner dedicated to the most representative seats of Lema. Designed as a backlit display chest, this space anticipates the large meeting room, equipped with all Lema materials and samples.
The lighting of the showroom has been entirely renovated thanks to the support of Flos and Morghen Studio.
