Kartell Bistrot Panoramic
Opening of the green and completely transparent Kartell Bistrot Panoramic, the highest designer, gourmet eatery in Italy. This unique project, completed by Kartell in conjunction with Skyway Monte Bianco, fully embraces the concept of "transparency 2.0."
Courmayeur (Valle d’Aosta) The Kartell Bistrot Panoramic opened on Thursday, March 10, to coincide with the Courmayeur Design Weekend. This highest café in Italy is a collaboration between Skyway Monte Bianco and Kartell, leader in the industrial production of top-quality objects of design. Thanks to the transparent material from which it is made, the Kartell Bistrot Panoramic offers guests an unrestricted view of Punta Helbronner (3,466 m), the nearest peak to the top of Mont Blanc.
The all-green café is furnished in the new polycarbonate 2.0, exclusive to Kartell and made from industrial cellulose waste and ISCC* certified paper (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification). This unique venue is intended to add value to its stunning surroundings by eliminating all barriers to the appreciation of their beauty. The ambitious project combined advanced engineering and design in the name of sustainability at an altitude of 3,466 metres. Skyway Monte Bianco and Kartell share the same ethical vision: both companies are committed to respecting the environment while promoting beauty, and both believe that the environment should be left free to express itself with its own natural energy.
These common ideals and visions led to a forward-looking collaboration in the name of beauty and respect for the planet that generously offers a home to us and to future generations.
Kartell Loves the Planet: Kartell is permanently committed to promoting beauty and quality as two essential aspects of sustainability. We believe it is our duty as a company to express positive values not just economically but also socially and culturally. These ideals are the key to our approach to industrial production and the basis of our collaboration with Skyway Monte Bianco. Our products are designed to be timeless and to respect the environment. At the end of their useful lives, they become museum exhibits and collector items. Punta Helbronner is a wonderful place. We can be proud that none of its beauty has been lost, thanks to the use of our transparent materials.
Save the Glacier: Since 2018, Skyway Monte Bianco has been active in a project that is close to our hearts and aims to save the area’s glaciers and perennial snows. In 2019, for example, the Flambeau glacier was cleaned up and the remains of an old summer ski resort that spoiled the view over the ancient crevasses of Mont Blanc were removed. We hope that the Kartell Bistrot Panoramic will place these age-old beauties in the eyes and minds of the public, because this is the only way to inspire the desire to protect them, for our own enjoyment and that of future generations.
The Kartell Bistrot Panoramic opened its doors during the Design Weekend, now in its second edition, and "decorates" the streets of the Alpine village of Courmayeur. From March 10 to 13, 2022, furniture fans and anybody else in search of new ideas and modern settings could enjoy a series of events, talks, and meetings with leading architects, designers, and design studios amid the iconic locations and brands of Mont Blanc.
