San Giorgio, the historic café of Sarzana renews its identity by choosing a timeless design.
San Giorgio café has always been an iconic venue for the town of Sarzana, located in the square of the same name in the historic centre. Over time it has changed various aesthetic identities and in recent years it has hosted a younger audience, mainly in the evening.
The challenge that the client presented to the no_made Architettura studio was to create a concept that could attract a clientèle of different age groups and at any time slot, from breakfast to a quick lunch, from aperitif time to the after dinner lounge.
The request in aesthetic terms was immediately very precise: to develop a proposal with a contemporary, new style that would differ from the trends of the moment already widely exploited by other cafés in the historic centre. The primary objective was to create a welcoming space to convey the freshness of a rediscovered "spring" after the hardships of a dark period from which we are finally emerging. Hospitality, optimism and originality are the key characteristics requested by the client, renewing to give a sense of rebirth and vitality while preserving a contemporary look with classic hints.
The creative process started from these concepts, defining a character in line with the wishes of the client in the desire to develop a place of escape from reality, also drawing inspiration from the communication trends of the great fashion and art houses.

inevitably led to INKIOSTRO BIANCO and its PERCEVAL wallpaper which fits perfectly with the conceived concept with the aim of creating a dreamlike, "timeless" environment, a "non-place", a sort of Garden of Eden In which to lose yourself in a rediscovered pleasure of living. >>states the Architect Marta Mazzi of no_made Architettura.
The use of wallpaper "sewn" on the difficult surfaces of the historic building allowed us to create an all-round setting, an immersive and at the same time surreal atmosphere, as if it had been created by a magic wand that changes an otherwise plain interior into a scenography that integrates and enhances the other compositional elements that characterise the project.
