Rubelli’s participation in Milan Design Week is dedicated to the theme of soft comfort and decoration, with the presentation of the new Seta armchair by Matteo Nunziati for Rubelli Casa, five new wallpapers and its first collection of acoustic panels.

Milan, September 2021 – Rubelli is presenting, for the occasion of MDW, new outfitting of its showroom in Via Fatebenefratelli centred on the theme of tactile and acoustic comfort, and decoration. An array of new ideas moving towards an increasingly welcoming and imaginative home, also designed for the contract and office worlds.

Rubelli Casa, which in September 2020 presented an extensive collection of new furnishings under the artistic direction of Matteo Nunziati (his "families" of sofas Velour and Asola, and the small armchair Tela are still on display in the showroom), now adds the new Seta small armchair to the range, in which particular emphasis is placed on the company’s textile DNA.

Inspired by the artistic movement of the Italian Novecento and in particular by the work of Guglielmo Ulrich, Seta is an armchair with an understated yet at the same time sophisticated design. The lines are curved, sensual, soft and welcoming, yet at the same time sleek and elegant. The feet in solid walnut or ash protrude from the seat and the upper band of the back can be upholstered in leather to further enhance the curved line that runs from the back down to the floor. A luxe armchair, contemporary and nevertheless timeless, with minimalist yet individual and refined shapes.

On the subject of wallpapers, Rubelli - who already has over 40 different wall coverings in its catalogue, including high-impact decorative designs, wall fabrics and structures - is presenting five new items this year, three of which are inspired by the fabrics of the same name, key players in the 2021 Di Varia Natura collection.

The new star products are:

Burano Wall - A vaguely geometric inspiration for the version of the Burano print on vinyl resembling a painter's canvas - the Venice island with its coloured houses becomes an architectural subject.

Déjeuner Sur l'Herbe Wall - The easily wall-applied version of the print of the same name that recalls painting en plein air. A restyled Toile de Jouy populated with elegant figures in eighteenth-century clothes in an idyllic and carefree picture.

Java Wall - Rotogravure print on nonwoven fabric of the jacquard of the same name. The wall covering reproduces its play on light and shadow. The overlapping of metallic and opaque silhouettes is reminiscent of Japanese lacquer. In the foreground plant elements with graceful shapes, possibly kentia.

Aquarius Wall - An all-over pattern, unique of its kind. Elegant and contemporary, it is the transposition of the design of a new marbled paper which, imitating the veining and the mottled colour typical of marble, creates an "abstract" pattern.

Eldorado Wall - The preciousness of gold for a touch of glamour. An embossed vinyl with the appearance of a fabric that references a chiselled artifact. The encounter between textile art and goldsmiths’ art in a covering that is deliberately eye-catching, yet decidedly refined.

Rubelli Acoustics by Slalom

An absolute novelty for Rubelli is the Rubelli Acoustics by Slalom: thermoformed acoustic panels covered with high-performance Rubelli fabrics and developed in collaboration with the Milan-based company Slalom.

A collection that extends the Rubelli world with another product that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and sustainable.

The collection debuting at this Salone 2021 presents two types of panels: Cloud Acoustic Wall and Wave Acoustic Wall. Cloud Acoustic Wall features a studded look, in which the rectangles expand with a strong relief effect. Wave Acoustic Wall instead features, as the name already suggests, an undulating surface.

The Rubelli collection fabrics that cover the panels are eight: four plain - Fiftyshades, Velvetforty, Fabthirty, Velvety - and four ornamental designs - Arianna, Ruskin, Katagami and Diecielode.

The main features of these panels are: the high aesthetic value, thanks to the type and colours of the fabrics used that allow for extensive customisation; the high sound-absorbing quality that ensures acoustic well-being and as a result increases the level of comfort in the spaces in which they are installed; the ease of installation, as they are applied to and detached from the wall using Velcro; sustainability, achieved with the Green Guard certified material (fabric and support); the possibility of use in both residential and public spaces, thanks to the fire retardant certification of both the support and the fabric applied. Finally, all panels are made of 70% recycled polyester and are 100% recyclable.

Nicolò Favaretto Rubelli, Rubelli CEO, comments: "The themes of comfort and sustainability are becoming increasingly important in our lives. We wanted to add to our ranges, which already span a wide assortment of textiles and furnishings, with a product able to guarantee sound absorption and at the same time bring the aesthetic and qualitative value guaranteed by Rubelli fabrics. For this important project, we sought support from an expert and qualified partner such as Slalom, a dynamic Milan company specialised in acoustic panels. In this first phase, we will offer two types of panels with different shapes, fabrics, sizes and colours to allow designers to include them in their projects as true furnishing items that bring personality to the space".

Elettra De Pellegrin, Slalom CEO, adds: "The collaboration between Rubelli and Slalom makes the concept of Acousthetics a reality, a syncretism between acoustics, ethics and aesthetics. In compliance with the highest green standards, what we see today is the result of shared know-how, demonstrating how innovation can be born in Italy from synergy. Our differences have enriched us: Rubelli has given us its wonderful tradition and history, we have brought our competence and passion for acoustics. United in our passion for design and quality, we have created a collection for acoustic and visual comfort".
