In September 2023, FIND - Design Fair Asia is set to return for its second edition after its successful debut in 2022, as part of Singapore Design Week. This design fair connects leading suppliers of furniture, lighting, and decor products, to big players of Asia's interior design, property development, and retail sectors.
Owing to Asia's post-pandemic resilience, demands for high-end design has skyrocketed, with Southeast Asia alone projected to grow by 8.35 per cent (2023-2027) to US$248.9 billion in the design market sector. Similarly, the Asia Pacific interior design services industry is estimated to be worth US$35.3 billion by 2027. On account of this, Carl Press, director of FIND - Design Fair Asia reveals, “As projects and travel in the region are significantly upscaling, the confidence for the industry is growing. Likewise, the hospitality and retail industry is moving into a new era, catering to the next generation of consumers, with smarter supply chains, integration into local cultures, and addressing sustainability needs, whilst going through a technological evolution. Design brands understand this, and we want to help suppliers to capitalise on Asia’s markets as we believe the positioning of FIND as a regional business platform is very compelling.”
The design week will essentially be a regional hosted buyer program for designers and buyers to form strong partnerships with key industry groups of the region. The event will take place at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, in an exhibition space of 18,000 sqm. It is expected to attract over 15,000 visitors, 350 international brands, and 50 decorated speakers for the Global Summit.
FIND - Global Summit
The FIND – Global Summit, curated by Yoko Choy, chair of content for the design event, brings together industry leaders, creatives, and craftspeople to discuss current developments in the global design landscape. The summit will feature seminars, masterclasses, and sessions with industry changemakers ranging from property developers and regional architects to hospitality professionals with the vision to facilitate discourse on newer design questions like regenerative design and other innovations and their application in the present state of Asia. “With the resumption of traffic between the East and the West, it's time to set our sights on the future. Following the resounding success of the inaugural FIND - Global Summit in 2022, our goal this year is to further establish Singapore as a hub for innovative and future-proof solutions in the creative industry. By collaborating closely with our local and regional partners, as well as creatives from diverse disciplines worldwide, including established figures and emerging talents, the summit will foster meaningful conversations around the pressing issues we currently face in the industry,” Choy explains.
Made in Italy for Asia
Fiera Milano, in partnership with the Italian Trade Agency, has organised a collective participation of Italian design companies at the FIND – Design Fair Asia 2023. To highlight the uniqueness of 'Made in Italy' designs, the event features ‘The Italian Design Futures Capsule.’ Designed by Stefano Boeri's multidisciplinary studio, this dedicated area will showcase over 30 leading Italian brands, demonstrating their creativity, excellence, and craftsmanship. Excitingly, a new addition to FIND 2023 is the product of collaboration between the Italian Embassy in Singapore, supported by ICE, and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the remarkable design installation called 'Italia Geniale,' curated by ADI - Association for Industrial Design. This exhibition presents materials, objects, and artefacts from Italian design icons, reflecting imagination, work, well-being, and human relationships.
EMERGE at FIND
In its second edition, this Southeast Asian design talent showcase features over 50 emerging as well as established furniture, lighting, and product designers from Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Put together by DesignSingapore Council, the showcase revolves around the theme ‘CRAFT + INDUSTRY: MAN + MACHINE,’ featuring a wide range of works, as the name suggests, from handmade and crafted to industrial and mass-produced items. This event thus aims to promote the region's rich diversity of design talent and make it visible to the global design community.
FIND-Design Fair Asia will be held from September 21 - 23, 2023, at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, with the ambition of becoming the predominant meeting place for the entire regional architecture and design community across Asia.
