The Louise table lamp by French designer and inventor Jean-Marie Massaud is compact, versatile and battery-powered. Its main feature—the light source—can be operated in both static and dynamic modes. The ability of this rechargeable lamp design to elegantly simulate a wavering candle flame makes it well-suited for intimate and cosy atmospheres.

The Louise table lamp is presented by Ramun (the brand founded under the creative direction of Alessandro Mendinias the third creation in its 7stars project, consisting of seven table lamps, each reinterpreting the Campanello lamp, the forerunner of the series. Inspired by the Big Dipper, 7stars aims to explore the potential of decorative lamps as companions in life, both for occasional and everyday use. Louise joins the series alongside Mendini's Campanello and Marcel Wanders' Bella.

A refined pleated material (Stained PLA) is used to create the tubular structure of the sleek lighting design that wraps its light source. The product design is topped with a slim ring for easy handling. The Louise lamp comes with controls for both the mode and brightness aspects of the light source, along with a micro-USB port located in its circular base. Engraved here are words by Massaud in French: La vie est une aventure faite de rencontres comme autant de lumiéres (Life is an adventure made of encounters, each like a light).

Besides functioning as a lamp, Louise can play 10 different classical melodies from Bizet, Bach, Chopin and Schubert, apart from well-known ones like Happy Birthday and Silent Night. Amplifying the product design with auditory features lends to its charm and versatility, making Louise an optimal addition to wellness and mental health focused spaces. A seamless integration of visual features into its elegant and innovative design makes Louise an experience.

Culturally, the lamp is valued as a gift that “illuminates the recipient's path and brings them good wishes, as light is often seen as a divine symbol,” as the French architect and lighting designer states.

Massaud also shares that Louise is “a comforting, friendly, romantic and intimate night light. She creates relationships: on the dining table, as a candlelight, she becomes the link between people.” The French product designer further emphasises the lamp’s versatility by stating that “it can create a romantic and warm atmosphere, by playing a delicate melody or be a delicate extra or bedside lamp with a very French refinement at home.”
