Michael Young Home by British designer Michael Young has designed a collection of aroma objects titled Void. The collection is made of recycled aluminium that captures a minimalist aesthetic with concise functionality. Each piece stands alone as a beautiful piece of art on the table, it affords a simple ritual of creating a sense of wellness through aroma. The product design is in collaboration with BeCandle, an artisanal manufacturing company based in Hong Kong, founded in 2012. The company specialises in developing and producing high-quality fragrance products using natural materials.

Void is on showcase at the Maison&Objet, Paris with a total of three designs that have been created in recycled aluminium and glass for use with incense, oil, and candles. The product designer was drawn to the brand due to the culture and authentic origins that manifest in the creation of the scents.

Young’s relationship with Becandle founder Xavier Tsang goes back several years to  2019 when he acted as a mentor to curate new conversations and site-specific objects with the Hong Kong-based designer a former grant recipient of Design Trust. The program tested a series of design dialogues and prototypes at the historic 1936 Haw Par Mansion in Tai Hang an experiment to extend to other cultures and communities beyond Hong Kong.
