Founded by product designer Mariana Ramos and architect Ricardo Innecco, studio Estúdio Rain works on product designs and projects guided by curiosity and experimentation. The duo's shared interest in investigating materials and production processes has always guided their work, often being the starting point for their creations or a foundation for developing their ideas. This can be seen in their projects’ different materials and techniques which often combine traditional and rudimentary methods with digital production.

The latest project by Estúdio Rain titled Curved Benches exploit the flexibility of wood to assimilate the curves of the body. Alluding to a fundamental building system, the furniture design forms a 'trilitic' structure, where two vertical plates perform the base and an horizontal curved one the seating. The elements of this wooden furniture suggest a subtle balance in which the parts seem just touch each other.

Although composed of few elements the set creates a solid and unexpected visual block. The juxtaposition of the curved plate with the vertical planes generates a slight encounter, marked by a linear shadow at its junction. The project seeks to dialogue with the Brazilian tradition of carpentry through a minimalist language.
