Crudos Art House
Nearly everything in my universe is related to design, including my residential, commercial and product design house I launched in 2012 in Miami’s Design District. I was born in Los Angeles and raised in Venezuela, and I believe my exposure to the diverse natural landscape and timeless architecture of Caracas inspired my approach as a designer 100 percent.
Additionally, having been inspired by music my entire life, I truly think the creative process in design is similar to that of music. It’s the pleasure of creating something from nothing. The way I approach design by layering materials, shapes, and colours is very similar to how one would compose a song.
The main reason I fell in love with the Crudos Art House project was that I knew it would be a project that would challenge my creativity and give me the tools and opportunities to create something without limitations. Therefore, I created a concept called “Dancing Colors” with acrylic-coloured lighted columns, dripping colours falling from the stairs to create kinetic movement, and finished with unexpected turquoise gummy bear wallpaper in the restroom.
The predominant colours I used were red and turquoise, based on Japanese art traditions, but with a twist of uniqueness and unexpectedness, which I used in the furniture fabrics. The biggest challenge was to keep it fun, colourful, yet elegant and exclusive. To achieve this, I added strategic elements, such as a custom-made detailed brass bar, indirect lighting, wooden walls, mirrors, intense colours, and suede fabrics that come together luxuriously.
My vision with Crudos Art House was to bring people together in an atmosphere that connects them emotionally by combining art, cuisine and music, thus creating a fun, multi-sensorial and interactive space for diners. I loved working on this project as it is a full expression of art, elegance, and design, which are all at the heart of Bea Interiors Design.” - Bea Pernia
