Commemorating the history of ceramics and tiles that dates back to 15th century in Portugal, Theia creative tiles release their Mar Di Collection designed by Studiopepe. The Milan based design studio and Portuguese tile manufacturer present a series of 4 different tiles that use vibrant colours and playful shapes, transforming conventional wall decor into a mix of rhythm and waves. The tiles, named after and inspired from the seas of the world, use their exuberant curves and pastel like colours to create soft silhouettes. The carefully curated colour palettes are testament to Theia’s meticulous process that creates tiles with smooth matte tones, reflective deep opaque colours, luxurious metallic shades and romantic transparent hues.

Studiopepe is a Milan based design studio that was founded by Arianna Lelli Mami and Chiara Di Pinto in 2006. The multidisciplinary studio dabbles in both design and research and works on a range of projects in the field of architecture, interior design, product design and creative direction. Exploring different contemporary design languages, Studiopepe's work has created an iconic brand identity that is defined by its research and experimentation between colours, materials and shapes. In collaboration with Theia, Studiopepe has created tiles that represent the beauty of the seas through these ideas.

The Mar Di Collection comprises four different tiles, each with its own distinct and fun shape. Each tile is named after a prominent sea, and thus the name of the collection, which means ‘the sea collection’ in English. The Mar Di Flores tile, named after the Flores sea of Indonesia is a wave shaped tile that creates these concave vertical grooves creating the texture of the waves on your walls. The Mar Di Banda tile, named after the Banda sea in the Pacific, uses a smooth curve sloping upwards just to add a touch of playfulness to the interior silhouettes. The Mar Di Giava and the Mar Di Kara are variations of each other, where long convex singular tiles can be mixed and matched in order to have a jigsaw-like art piece for a wall. The Kara tile is one individual tile while the Giava uses three attached pieces. The Mar Di Collection with its simple yet fun shapes transforms an interior space into a multi-coloured space that is characterised by whimsical shapes and fun patterns.
