David Groppi's Pagina tells a story through paper-filtered light

Italian lighting brand, Davide Groppi recently launched the Pagina wall lamp, designed by Alessandra Dallagiovanna, an Italian designer and architect. Dallagiovanna has previously collaborated with the lighting brand to create several other products such as the 35 MM wall-mounted LED lamp, a luminous LED pendant lamp, and a slow-flashing lamp called FILM. Pagina is made of three parts: a sheet of paper, a pen, and an LED light.

Pagina is a unique luminaire, created with the intention of letting its users navigate the product on their own. Born out of the idea that light is a narration, it breaks the fourth wall and ripples the surface, projecting interesting lights and shadows around it. The paper is made out of a special sheet of Methacrylate - PA - PET, integrated with micro suction cups so that it can be fixed to a wall and moved at will, created in such a way so as to create waves and 3D effects. The LED source is located in the pen which brings together the wall lamp design.

The LED pen is meant to be placed on the curve of the paper and its light can be adjusted to create diffused light shadows. The surface of the luminaire is characterised by ripples which lend it a dynamic appearance and visually appear like vibrant living forms moving under the surface.The blank surface of Pagina invites users to draw, write, scribble or paint on its surface, thus converting the product into personal and unique objects that bear the imprint of its users.

Davide Groppi designs mainly focus on simplicity, lightness, emotion and invention. Their signature style is characterized by minimalist geometries that take on exaggerated proportions to create a feeling of lightness and movement, suited to any contemporary house setting. Light is thought to make sense, following a vision based both on coherence and on the need to be different.
