Christmas at Tiffany & Co. is a Warholian affair

Tiffany & Co. celebrates the 2022 holiday season with a limited edition collection inspired by Andy Warhol's classic illustrated greeting cards, conceived during the 1950s and 60s.

’Tis the season! With the gratitude of Thanksgiving, the merriness of Christmas, and the hopes for a new year, the world seems to be embracing the beauty and calmness that come with another ending. As Christmas decorations, seasonal packaging and offers flood the window displays, Tiffany & Co. celebrates the 2022 holiday season with a Capsule collection, advent calendar, and a campaign. The exclusive Tiffany & Co. x Andy Warhol limited-edition collection is inspired by the artist’s holiday greeting cards created for the storied jeweller during the 1950s and 60s when Warhol was regarded as one of the most successful commercial illustrators in New York City.

“Warhol created the vibrant Tiffany & Co. holiday cards on paper in his signature blotted line and watercolour style, illustrated with birds, stars, shoes, trees and other holiday themes. They were offered each December at the jeweller’s Fifth Avenue flagship store from 1957 until 1962,” states the official release by Tiffany’s. The exclusive collection includes everything from tableware and ornaments to greeting cards and playing cards that feature Warhol’s whimsical, festive motifs—bone china dessert plates, ring dishes and ornaments, holiday cards, playing cards, and hand-painted glass ornaments. This collaboration also celebrates the luxury giant's long-standing relationship with the art world and Warhol’s love for the holiday season.

In addition, Tiffany's pays homage to Warhol's iconic illustrations with its holiday campaign and advent calendar, which reimagine Warholian motifs in a four-foot-long artwork. Each advent calendar is crafted over the course of 50 hours from lightweight, sustainable wood. The jewellery house further mentions, "Clients can work with their preferred Client Advisor to curate the perfect Advent Calendar." The stack of large Tiffany blue boxes dressed in the artworks, opening to reveal 24 of the actual boxes, brings Tiffany's iconic blue box to Warhol's Christmas spirit.

“In addition to celebrating the timeless creations of Tiffany & Co. and Andy Warhol, this unique collaboration will generously support the Warhol Foundation’s endowment from which it has distributed over $275M in cash grants to visual arts organisations. The Foundation is delighted to draw attention to the enduring power of art with Tiffany & Co. during this ‘Warholiday’ season,” shares Michael Dayton Hermann of the Warhol Foundation.

Announcing the Tiffany & Co. x Andy Warhol limited-edition collection which is available online from November 2, 2022, Tiffany’s official release states, “This year’s holiday season comes to life at Tiffany & Co. with all the magic that Warhol envisioned for it.”
