Housing the world-renowned Charles Burnand’s new collectible design gallery is a space in the art hub of London. Located in the Fitzrovia neighborhood, the gallery adorned with the oeuvre of established and emerging artists around the globe is drenched in warm golden light. The two-floor, 250sqm space puts on a creative display of its inhabitants while a new custom commission studio invites clients to closely see and experience the design and production process. “Our new gallery allows us to show our pieces in one place, allowing our clients to engage with the ‘world’ of Charles Burnand,” shares Simon Stewart, founder of the studio. “It is also a dedicated space where we can work with designers, architects and collectors to bring their ideas to fruition,” he adds.

Founded by Simon Stewart in 2009, the studio has established a strong foundation by representing skilled and promising designers and artists creating works for interior designers, architects and private collectors, bringing together the best in Europe. When Stewart noticed an increasing demand for bespoke and custom pieces, he founded the studio to cater to the clientele by utilising and nurturing artisanal skills to make exclusive pieces of furniture and lighting made to very exacting standards. “We work with honest, noble and sustainable materials and we have honed our skills to create unique, one-of-a-kind and edition pieces that are appreciated by collectors worldwide,” says Stewart.
Following on from a successful SALON Art + Design NYC 2021, as well as Collect in London, new works showcased at the London gallery are designs by Alexandra Champalimaud, a debut work by Linda Boronkay, a bench by Caleb Zipperer and the brilliant craftsmanship of Callum Partridge, Le Salon Chair by Agathe Labaye and multimedia paintings by Pierre Bonnefille among others. The new gallery will be the next chapter of Charles Burnand’s evolution and the first instance of displaying its expanded roster. “Our client is an appreciator of the finest materials, who celebrates time-honoured skills that we combine with cutting-edge technology,” he shares.
Drawing inspiration from the mid-century modern Italian design era, Charles Burnand makes the most of the growing passion for collectible design that has reached new heights in recent years. The transformation of the studio’s in-house design is a tale shaped out of curiosity, combined with an innate desire to design and create cutting-edge pieces in luxurious, tactile materials that demand permanence in the client’s collection.
