By consistently pushing the limits of conventional expression, the gallery has garnered global recognition for its impact in transcending the boundaries between art and design. Carpenters Workshop Gallery serves as a common platform for artists from around the world, while also nurturing and showcasing the emerging talents who will shape the future of the creative landscape. In celebration of the first anniversary of their physical gallery in Los Angeles, Carpenters Workshop Gallery presents 'CHAOS' an exhibition, which serves as a testament to the gallery's unique and collaborative approach of creative expression, curated by Creative Director and Founder of SIZED, Alexander May. Renowned for his multidisciplinary approach, May seamlessly bridges the realms of art and design, and of physical and digital expression. With his vast experience spanning over 18 years, May has melded his background in fine art with creative consulting endeavours, which has ultimately led to the establishment of hin innovative creative studio, agency, and shop, SIZED.

'CHAOS' offers a glimpse into the gallery's creative vision by featuring a diverse range of contemporary art pieces that merge form and function while doing justice to both. With over 20 esteemed artists, including Ingrid Donat, Sterling Ruby, Vincenzo De Cotiis, Thomas Houseago, Victor Barragán, Suda Kokuta, and Rick Owens, this exhibition promises a comprehensive display of their works. The title 'CHAOS' serves as a metaphor for the exploration of contrasting textures and forms and their interaction with one another in this exhibition. It encapsulates the delicate equilibrium achieved by juxtaposing opposing creative perspectives, thus revealing the inherent beauty that arises from disorder.

Guided by the discerning lens of the LA-based curator, the exhibition aims to foster cultural dialogue, offering visitors glimpses into different facets of the world through the discourse of various artistic voices through their designs. This exhibition not only facilitates conversations among the artists themselves and forges connections between their creative expressions and the broader tapestry of our cultural landscape. Alexander May's ingenious curation challenges viewers to embark on an exploration, urging them to question their preconceived notions and reimagine the existing meanings assigned to objects. The showcase encompasses an array of works, combining elements of naturalism with stark industrial pieces, works of furniture and lighting design to paintings. It features Materials such as moose antler, ceramics, various wood types, aluminium, bronze, and steel placed together and made to work with each other, generating unique effects and negotiations with each combination.

To produce an immersive experience, Carpenters Workshop Gallery transforms its space to allow for varying levels of display. Furthermore, by contextualizing the environment, the exhibition moves beyond traditional methods of presentation, creating a multi-dimensional encounter for visitors. As a result, this exhibition invites viewers to embark on a captivating journey through the global design-led artistic landscape. The exhibition offers multiple pathways, providing visitors with the freedom to choose their narrative through the exploration of scale, texture, and material. The space encourages contemplation and celebrates the transformative power of chaos in art.
