Italian furniture brand Cantori translates its vibrant locale of the Marche region of Italy, rich cultural, artisanal and design history into unique pieces of furniture. For 2022, the brand created a collection that integrates new materials such as resin with classic materials such as metal for creating the perfect indoor pieces. The brand translates the design expertise of iconic Italian designers such as Maurizio Manzoni and Luca Roccadadria into a collection comprising sophisticated tables, chairs, sofas, sideboards, beds, lamps and cabinets. "The 2022 collection is a perfect continuation of the path that Cantori started to follow four years ago.

The new models are certainly even more innovative, not so much at a formal level but rather for the presence of metallic details, which make their return both on the upholstered products and on solid furniture,” says designer Maurizio Manzoni on the conceptualisation of the new collection. The collection was presented by the brand at the latest Salone del Mobile 2022 in a strikingly unique pavilion by Manzoni.

Firstly, channelling the brand’s pioneering personality, Manzoni comes up with the Arcano table that draws inspiration from the tough classic curbstones from a busy street. “Typically metropolitan and contemporary street product,” is what the Italian designer refers to it while creating a sinuous visual array. Manzoni used resin for the base of the table and surrounded it with metal tubes for support, alongside the choice of oval and circular top characterised in a brass finish; all of which work in a perfect symphony to enhance any living space. Complimenting the rigid structure of the Arcano table is the retro-styled Sharon chair which features a crisp design structured in metal and draped in leather and fabric.

The Johnson coffee tables and the Valley line of various furnishing items are all designed by Maurizio Manzoni that ideate Cantori’s thought of a metallic embrace. The Johnson coffee tables are designed with drop-shaped tops in smoked glass, white carrara marble and black ash while being held on a light metal structure interspersing lightness in the design that Manzoni always employs as his additions to different Cantori collections. Similarly, the valley line: the great protagonist of the 2022 Cantori collection, embraces the finesse of metals through its designs. The line includes tables, sideboards, a buffet table, a sofa and a bed, all of which are characterised with a metal band that ‘supports’ and enhances the headboard, the back and the sides of the furniture pieces. Each of the pieces from the line embraces metal in combination with pastel and orange and black lacquer finishes alongside black ash wood and marble. The glass door of the buffet tables and the cabinets further enhance the creative and complex use of materials by the Italian designer.

Cantori is a brand that powers to enhance its complex design oeuvre by not just featuring established designers and their works, but by centrestaging young talent. Adding to the 2022 Cantori collection, are the collaborative pieces by Luca Roccadadria. The designer’s iconic make-up table Luis takes a striking turn when the designer introduces it as a dining table for Cantori’s collection. The rectangular table is designed with a smoked glass top with bevelled edges and a metal base with crossed legs. Roccadadria also platforms the Circle lamps as a whimsical piece realised in metal. The long, curved stem of the floor lamp appears to be holding a vaguely oriental hat in place that encloses a direct source of light.
