‘Poses’ by Italian lighting brand Axolight offers the chance to modulate luminaires in a series of different combinations in order to infuse different spaces with different energies and auras. While the importance of light in our environments is hardly ever discounted, this new collection of modular luminaires further draws attention to the importance of good lighting design. Characterised by flexibility and modularity, these luminaires can function as pendant lights, wall fixtures and as ceiling lights. “With Poses, our goal was to enable the designer to create countless planar geometric shapes (i.e. poses), in addition to delivering and diffusing light into interior spaces through the use of straight lines and junction points,” explains Giuseppe Scaturro, CEO of Axolight.

Created by the Axolight team under the guidance of their Art Director, Magdalena Kirova, is inspired by a very famous work called ‘Elements’ by Euclid. While this study by the Greek mathematician and philosopher defined the primitive concepts of point, line and plane, the luminaire is built using several linear bars of multiple lengths. These bars can be assembled and reassembled in a variety of ways against circular satellites, such that every combination leads to a new geometrical form. Each circular satellite can accommodate one to four bars, which can be inserted in 12 different positions. By adjusting the bars according to one’s requirements, both the volume of the luminaires and the orientation of light can be altered.

Available in four different finishes, namely desert white, greige, laguna aqua and earth red, the products are made up of elements produced by the Venetian artisan district. They are assembled by hand and tested one by one at the Axolight workshop. The final luminaires, thus, are not only excellently designed but are also qualitatively sound.

Founded in 1996, Axolight is a lighting company based in both Italy and the United States. Initially based in Venice, the lighting brand aims to combine the archaic manufacturing methods of Italy with the offerings of contemporary lighting techniques. Their products not only satisfy extant aesthetics and demands but also serve multiple usages in indoor spaces. Defined by shapes and forms that are minimal and feature clean edges, their high-end decorative lights serve multifarious purposes while also determining the aura of the space, both with their external appearance and with the light they project. Products manufactured by the Italian brand find usage in small spaces like bedrooms and living rooms of households as well as the large corridors and halls of malls, airports and theatres. Some of the different kinds of lighting products that the brand regularly manufactures are table lamps, suspension lamps, wall sconces and lamps, chandeliers, and floor and ceiling lamps, amongst others.
