Objects by André Fu, a new collection of limited edition works by the Architect and designer will be making its global preview at Design Miami / Podium x Shanghai this November. The new collection of Objects is a personal exploration for André into the material of bronze. At Design Miami/ Podium x Shanghai, Fu will be presenting four new Objects, the Twirl Floor Lamp and Table Lamp, Arc Occasional Chair and the Orb Arrival Table.
With his origins in the discipline of spatial design, with Objects, André embarks on a journey to challenge himself with the concept of creating a dialogue between object and user. In the new series, the designer questions the use of traditional materials and techniques, fostering his own creative language. Through his study of bronze, Fu has looked to evoke a quality that transcends the formal expression of dimensionality with each individual piece in the series. “The spirit of my design philosophy is about provoking new ways of thinking about what luxury means,” says Fu. Objects illustrate André’s evolving vision through experimental representation. Each object, which runs in editions, has been conceived with its own inspiration and personality, while each work is inspired by conveying the duality and contrast between the restrained and the expressed.
One key piece that will be showcased at Design Miami / Podium is the Orb Arrival Table. Grounded by a chArcoal cast bronze base, the Orb Arrival Table’s bold silhouette juxtaposes figurative and abstract expression. This experimentation into working with bronze as a medium allowed André to investigate its unique material qualities into evolving forms. Emphasised by a Brazilian Rota Da Seta marble top in a deep rose burgundy hue engraved with a cascading motif to accentuate the rigorous movement and oscillating grains of the natural blush-toned stone. André will also present three additional pieces at Design Miami/ Podium x Shanghai - the Twirl Floor and Table Lamps and Arc Occasional Chair.

Design Miami/ Podium x Shanghai, is the very first collectible design event in Asia - and the latest chapter in their traveling event concept, Podium. Following its launch in Miami in December 2020, Podium’s second iteration will take place November 4-14, 2021, coinciding with Shanghai Art Week.
