FIND – Design Fair Asia, the premier marketplace for furniture design, interior objects and product design, is set to make its highly anticipated return during Singapore Design Week (SDW) from September 26 - 28, 2024. This efficiently curated tradeshow will serve as Southeast Asia’s premier meeting point for the dynamic furniture and interior sector. It will bring together prime property developers, architects, hospitality and retail professionals, interior designers, leading manufacturers and top suppliers, all within a sprawling 17,000 square metre exhibition space at the prestigious Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre. "FIND testifies to the international vocation of our Group, it exemplifies our commitment to the organisation of trade events abroad and in sectors which have particular geographical or market significance. Singapore reaffirms its position as a key hub for Asian design and provides the ideal setting for this event, which we have been organising in collaboration with an excellent partner like Dmg Events. This edition, with a 15 per cent growth compared to 2023, is also thanks to the support of ITA Agency who are adding value to Italian companies in foreign contexts by promoting the uniqueness of Italian creativity and design," comments Roberto Foresti, Deputy General Manager of Fiera Milano.

The design fair is poised to take advantage of strong regional partnerships with key industry groups such as the DesignSingapore Council, the Society of Interior Designers Singapore, the Asia-Pacific Space Designers Association, the Hotel and Restaurant Association of the Philippines (HRAP), Thai Furniture Association, Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC), the Vietnam Design Association (VDAS), amongst other leading groups. Upon research and evaluation, dmg events inferred that the Southeast Asian furniture sector is projected to reach £14.58 billion in 2024, with the living room furniture segment alone valued at £4.96 billion. Growth in the hospitality sector is boosting the interior design industry, fuelled by an increasing hotel construction pipeline in APAC. With a history of attracting 22 per cent of international visitors, FIND is strategically positioned to benefit from these trends.

The fair is launching an enhanced business matching service to facilitate direct connections between buyers and suppliers through bespoke meetings and networking opportunities. “The broad endorsement from leading manufacturers and industry groups ensures that the design event is a platform by the industry, for the industry in the region. Headwinds such as interest rate fluctuations, China’s liquidity and property downturn slowed the post-covid recovery, but by contrast, the economies of Southeast Asia show resilience and are poised to be the world’s fastest-growing region in 2024, offering intriguing opportunities,” says Carl Press, Event Director of dmg events.

FIND Global Summit

The FIND Global Summit attracted approximately 2,300 participants in 2023 and is preparing to gather prominent figures from the design and business fields once more. Yoko Choy, content chair and editor of Wallpaper* Magazine China, will head a team of industry experts responsible for planning engaging sessions for 2024. The summit aims to stimulate conversations on innovative design strategies spanning architecture, hospitality and consumer design sectors. These discussions are intended to provide practical insights and motivate attendees to effectively seize forthcoming opportunities.

‘EMERGE’ Showcase @ FIND

The highly anticipated third edition of this Southeast Asian design showcase returns with its largest exhibition space yet, spanning 1,015 square metres. Presented by the DesignSingapore Council and curated once again by the Founding Editor-In-Chief of Design Anthology, Suzy Annetta. The event will feature new works from more than 50 emerging and established designers representing Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. This year's theme, THESE PRECIOUS THINGS, invites designers to explore unique interpretations of valued ideas and materials. "We are heartened by the positive reception of EMERGE as it continues to foster connections among designers, buyers, and other industry stakeholders. Since its debut during Singapore Design Week in 2022, it has become the go-to platform to discover Southeast Asian talent, paving the way for new commercialisation opportunities for these designers from Singapore and the region," says Dawn Lim, executive director of DesignSingapore Council.

Iconic Designs and Collective Areas

B2B delegates visiting FIND will have the opportunity to explore prominent global and regional brands like Serip from Italy and Portugal, a collective from Indonesia’s Contemporary Art & Design (ICAD), Arte International from the Netherlands, Hansgrohe and Axor and brands from Germany and Japan. The Italian Trade Agency (ITA) will also return to the design exhibition this year, showcasing over 30 iconic Italian exhibitors across 400 square meters under the theme Design Made in Italy.

FIND ’24 – Sustainability

FIND is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and achieving upcoming net-zero goals. This undertaking extends beyond hosting the tradeshow at Marina Bay Sands, one of Asia's leading sustainable venues. By fully offsetting venue emissions, the design festival demonstrates its dedication to sustainability. The event also aims to minimise waste by eliminating unnecessary carpets and opting for fully digital visitor passes, avoiding the printing of 15,000 badges. Exhibitors are offered modular booth construction options made from upcycled materials to reduce the overall carbon footprint of the event.

FIND City Activations & Singapore Design Week

FIND will serve as the gateway to explore Singapore's evening scene, offering exclusive showroom tours via dedicated shuttle buses. Participants can discover selected brands across furniture, lighting design, decoration, product design, fine crafts and lifestyle stores. Moreover, Singapore will host one of Asia's leading design festivals during the Singapore Design Week, scheduled from September 26 - October 6, 2024. This event will feature a diverse range of activities, including night installations and special experiences, providing design enthusiasts with opportunities to explore unique city districts, artists and initiatives.

FIND 2024 is poised to be a crucial event for the regional furniture and interior design industries, set against the backdrop of SDW. Featuring a strong roster of industry influencers, innovative exhibits such as EMERGE and a firm dedication to sustainability. As the global economy continues to evolve, Singapore not only solidifies its position as a regional design hub but also as a crucial nexus of networking and business opportunities worldwide. With the event on the horizon, expectations rise for the influential collaborations and innovations that will define the future of design in Southeast Asia and beyond.
