Switzerland based gallery, Objects With Narratives (OWN), recently launched their new website with the intention to categorically narrate the stories of all 30 of their current designers. The gallery distinguishes itself through its unique approach of seeking creations that represent powerful stories and strong values. Founded in the year 2019 by architect and designer, Robbe Vandewyngaerde, engineer and architect, Nik Vandewyngaerde and Oskar Eryatmaz, who was in the financial services sector, the gallery seeks creators and creations that can beget deeper introspection, or perhaps even help the viewer reminisce and connect with old stories through the objects displayed at the gallery.

Several years ago, while designing pieces that could tell a story, the Vandewyngaerde brothers of Studio Narra encountered several other designers who had the same thought process and passion for design. Consequently, they started to collaborate, enforce and publish their works on the OWN platform. However, they also noticed that it was extremely difficult for young designers to develop and produce their designs due to budget constraints. This is when Oskar Eryatmaz joined the team and the true identity of OWN came into existence.

Together, the trio began to seek designers who could create objects that are not only aesthetic or functional but also narrate a story and connect with the viewers and users on a deeper level. OWN provided these designers with a platform where they could solely focus on designing and rely on the gallery to showcase and sell all their creations.

Objects with Narratives aims to be a gallery that concentrates on the value and the story of the pieces themselves rather than the name, style or era of the designers that represent the objects. They believe in shifting the incentive of design to objects powered by narratives. This is what gave birth to the name of the gallery 'Objects with Narratives'. The Swiss gallery makes uncommon and collectible design pieces accessible to everyone around the world in a transparent and reasonable way, thus providing a thriving space to all their designers. With the intention to actively empower bold creators to present their story-driven work, OWN organises physical and virtual exhibitions around the world to showcase these narrative-based objects.

Over the past year, they have worked hard on this new platform that can allow designers to focus on design, while also providing a flexible space to tell and sell their stories. Currently, OWN represents around 30 designers who are mainly based in Europe and will grow steadily during 2022 to approximately 40 designers. The goal is not to go too big so they maintain an intimate relationship with the designers.
