On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2021 Nilufar Gallery presents new installations within its Milanese spaces. Nina Yashar offers an eclectic selection of projects and unique pieces to tell once again the beauty of design and contemporary art through her meticulous research. "The design week 2021 edition is very dear to me: it marks a new beginning, a way to meet after a while and talk together on trends, industry discoveries and new ways of collaboration. These months have allowed us to reflect on work, to go deeper into projects and to do research together with the designers," says Nina Yashar.

Arcoiris by Analogia Project

Arcoiris, the new project by Analogia Project for Nilufar, is a physical experiment, a  fascinating interplay of light and stone, composed of a series of artfully made designs.  The collection features floor and table lamps, pendant and wall lights, and a large coffee table, all entirely made from marble beams of different forms, curvatures and types (White  Carrara, Verde Alpi, Giallo Reale and Rosso Alicante marble). Each and every element of this lighting piece was designed to conceal the light source,  so as to create an ethereal effect of bright colours that are lit from the inside. "The name Arcoiris comes from the Spanish term for "rainbow"; I chose it because of its many mystic and symbolic meanings. When I designed this collection, I wanted to capture some natural phenomena in stone. I see this project as a transformation, where solid marble is worked until it embodies the evanescent nature of light," says Andrea  Mancuso. The exhibition was displayed at at Nilufar Gallery, Via della Spiga, 32 - Milan, from September 7th, 10AM-7PM.

Some Vibrant Things By Audrey Large commissioned by Nilufar Gallery

If the work of the artist and designer Audrey Large has always questioned the dichotomy between the digital and real, some of her sculpture objects will gather in the Nilufar Gallery exhibition space - in via Spiga, Milan - next September to raise questions about the dynamics that govern the universe of things and images.

Animated by Jane Bennett's intriguing research and her investigations into "vibrating matter," Large arranges her objects in space in search of an unusual dialogue with the viewer. If the American researcher emphasizes how in our daily life we are used to ignoring "the call of things," forgetting the power they exert over us, Large's magnetic and iridescent 3D-printed objects are instead able to translate the action inherent in all objects that we usually consider immobile, inert. And their layered skin is full of images and reliefs, juxtapositions and sparks, and escapes any precise definition. The exhibition was curated By Studio Vedèt and displayed from 5-11 September 2021 at Via Della Spiga 32,Milan

Ornate - Bethan Laura Wood

Ornate is a solo show by Bethan Laura Wood for Nilufar Gallery which celebrates a decade of dialogue between Wood and gallerist Nina Yashar. New works, shown alongside existing pieces by the designer, are partnered with historical works selected by Nina Yashar, to offer a wonderful journey into private lives and hidden spaces. In this period of instability, when people are feeling the importance of having "a room of one's own" in the tradition of Virginia Woolf, Wood takes references from that historical period and in particular the British Aesthetic Movement and Art Nouveau, to create pieces that blur the line between two-dimensional decoration and three-dimensional Form. Wood's new work focuses on the boudoir - a woman's private space for both spiritual contemplation and physical cultivation - and the objects that may be found there. The designer invites the viewer to "travel through her mind's eye" to the many cities and cultures that have played an important role in informing and influencing her practice over the last 10 years.
The exhibition was displayed at Nilufar Gallery, Via Della Spiga 32, Milano, from September 5th-November 27th, 10am-7pm.

Nuovi Pezzi - Filippo Carandini

Familiar volumes, vibrant colour matches or bold use of black and white, tactile materials and the echo of artistic references are the key elements of the visual language by Filippo Carandini. A tailor-made approach and a playful vision are what characterises the furniture pieces. His collection is designed to interact and merge with its surroundings through reflections and space fragmentation, always bringing in a charming asymmetric accent. "Drawing inspiration from my Florentine background, I wanted these pieces to introduce in an interior a specific colour combination, a certain material, or the feeling of a precise texture like parchment, for example. The reassuring, well proportioned, the shape of our furniture does this effectively by leaving plenty of space for the colours, materials and textures," says Carandini.
The exhibition was displayed at Nilufar Gallery, Via della Spiga, 32 - Milan, from September 7th, 10 AM-7 PM.
