Exhibition Details

In addition to these three new exhibitions, the recently inaugurated Materia Disidente (Dissident Material) by Cris Noguer is a highlight: an exhibition that presents a table and two benches made of non-normative stone pine wood. The project is based on the precision felling done by the association Singular Wood in the Montnegre Forests (Barcelona) in support of slow-growing and resilient species. This concept led Cris Noguer to save one of these trees from becoming biomass fuel. Here begins a work of investigation and relating with a non-homogeneous, non-normative wood, a dissident to industrial aesthetics. The dialogue she establishes with the material leads her to question the idea of quality and the need to create new definitions: is it not perhaps more interesting to consider wood as a living material in constant transformation, like fungi, for example, to stain it yellow, pink, or blue, or to show the scars created by the insects and other animals that have dwelt in it?
