In conjunction with Salone del Mobile, from 7th to 13th April 2025, Milan comes back as the protagonist with Fuorisalone, which offers a calendar full of events, exhibitions, and installations throughout the city.
Design Week has now become an unavoidable meeting point for key players in the design world - designers, architects, and creatives - as well as schools, universities, and institutions gathering in Milan to share ideas that interpret the present while imagining our future.
This year, the countless proposals and hands-on experiments talk not only about sustainability but also about new forms of AI, hybridization, and the sharing of skills between researchers applied to materials, new visions on living, contaminations between physical and digital, and participatory design - all of which are the key concepts that the theme of Fuorisalone 2025 pivots on.
The theme “Connected Worlds” is an invitation to reflect on how design could play a crucial role in connecting different dimensions of our lives - from the natural environment to advanced technologies, from cultural traditions to innovations in every field.
Connected Worlds: The work in three subjects by Silvia Badalotti becomes the manifesto of Fuorisalone 2025
Three emblematic and powerful images, created using AI by Silvia Badalotti, Prompt Designer and Photographer, explore the meanings of “Connected Worlds.” The theme carries a clear message: designing not only to express creativity but also to build connections and foster a sense of global unity. It serves as an invitation to think in a generative way, ensuring that each design choice contributes to strengthening the bonds between people, technology, and nature.
Three subjects as parties of a cycle, in which each element is essential for the others’ life
The Person (Gaia): The choice of an Asian woman’s face with a blue eye represents the universality of human beings, transcending ethnicities and cultures.
Technology (Net): The agglomeration of cables and electric circuits symbolizes progress, connecting the world and unlocking endless opportunities. However, if used without control, it risks becoming detrimental.
Nature (Fluid): The image of a bee and its beehive represents both the fragility and strength of nature. Bees symbolize biodiversity and serve as a warning: if nature is not respected, the vital cycle breaks down, compromising the ecosystem.
Portanuova Vertical Connection
"Portanuova Vertical Connection" brings the theme "Connected Worlds" to life through a fully walkable and accessible Layher structure, inviting visitors on a physical and technological journey guided by Artificial Intelligence. Through interactive buttons and sensors, visitors can create and shape content on videowalls - selecting locations, colors, and sensations that transform into images, sounds, and lights.
