India Art Fair, the leading platform showcasing modern and contemporary art from India and South Asia, returns for its 16th edition at the NSIC Exhibition Grounds in New Delhi from 6–9 February 2025.
For its biggest edition yet, India Art Fair continues in its mission to showcase the very best of South Asian art alongside major contemporary international artists and collectible design by pioneering studios, reinforcing its position as the leading site for the discovery of art and culture in the region. Led in partnership with BMW India, India Art Fair 2025 convenes audiences to explore a record 120 exhibitors, including 78 galleries, presented alongside major regional and international art institutions.
The fair hosts its most ambitious programme of talks, workshops, and performances yet, activating the fairgrounds as a place of direct engagement with artists, designers, and arts specialists. Beyond gallery presentations, the fair sees the installation of new commissions and large-scale outdoor projects led by artists and supported by the fair’s network of South Asian and international arts organisations, foundations, and patrons. New Delhi’s rich cultural offering is celebrated through an extensive Parallel Programme of gallery exhibitions and activations across the city.
The 13 international galleries at the fair showcase renowned South Asian and diaspora artists, including Huma Bhabha (David Zwirner), Anish Kapoor (Galleria Continua and Lisson Gallery), Khadim Ali (Aicon), Affan Baghpati (Aicon Contemporary), Shubha Taparia (Unit7./ Prahlad Bubbar) and Kingsley Gunatillake (PRSFG), alongside internationally acclaimed artists such as Ai Weiwei (Galleria Continua), Marina Abramović and Shirazeh Houshiary (both Lisson Gallery) and Ugo Rondinone (Galerie Geek Art).
PROGRAMMING HIGHLIGHTS
Supported by JSW and curated by independent researcher and curator Shaleen Wadhwana, the Talks Programme – entitled Growing Focus – examines the increasing prominence of South Asia in global contemporary art, design, and culture. Covering key issues from a variety of institutional, market, philanthropic, infrastructural and creative perspectives, the series aims to foster dialogue and exchange across its discussions.
The India Art Fair 2025 Special Programmes spotlight global cultural connections and creative dialogues. On Friday 7 February, a collaborative talk with the Bukhara Biennial curator Diana Campbell, titled Crafting Unity in Diversity: Central and South Asia, will delve into the historical, culinary, artistic, and artisanal intersections between Central Asia and India, drawing from the inaugural biennial’s theme, Recipes for Broken Hearts.
PERFORMANCE ART
India Art Fair’s Performance Art programme invites audiences to consider the multiple ways they interact with their natural and social environments. Among the performance artists are Umesh S., Ashwini Bhat, Priyakshi Agarwal, Karoline Schreiber, Ayesha Singh & Jyothidas K.V and more.
‘THE FUTURE IS BORN OF ART’ COMMISSION
Marking nine years of partnership, India Art Fair and BMW India expand the scale and scope of ‘The Future is Born of Art’ Commission, created to platform Indian art and artists on a global stage. The winning artist-duo for the 2025 Commission, Non-Linear (Dennis Peter) and Cursorama (Yash Chandak), will create an immersive installation at the fair on the theme of Ecocentrism with the BMW iX1 LWB, MINI Countryman Electric and Motorrad CE 02 and CE 04 at its centre.
INCLUSIVITY & LEARNING
Inclusivity and access remain central to India Art Fair’s mission. For the first time ever, the fair is delighted to welcome the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA) as its official Learning Partner, supporting all of this year’s inclusivity and learning programs.
BEYOND THE FAIR
