The Danish Pavilion at Design London will feature over 10 new Scandinavian names curated by Lifestyle & Design Cluster in conjunction with the Danish Embassy. Discover collections by; Fredericia Furniture, Innovation Living, Wehlers, Genfärd, furnipart, applicata, Warm Nordic, Dansk Wilton, Søren Lund Møbler, FLID tools and SOFACOMPANY. Lifestyle & Design Cluster works to promote innovation and sustainable growth primarily in the small and medium-sized housing and clothing companies as well as in the creative industries. They have a broad dialogue-based interface with the business community and, through their many different projects and activities, generate new knowledge which is communicated via events on the website via cases and news updates. Here are the leading brands displaying at the pavilion at Design London by LDF 2021.

Warm Nordic

With the strong Scandinavian design tradition as its foundation, Warm Nordic bridges the gap between the past and the present, between tradition and renewal. The brand has one largest selection of classic furniture and lamps from the 50s and 60s as well as modern designs of Danish and international designers. Warm Nordic has thrown itself into to become more environmentally conscious, with the use of packaging and a study of greener solutions; it has bid adieu to plastic. Fried Egg Armchair and Sofa and Gesture Dining Chair in FSC certified wood and certified raw materials. The furniture is currently exhibited at London Design London with Lifestyle & Design Cluster and a dozen of other reputed brands.

Wehlers

Wehlers is a sustainable design furniture brand for the conscious consumer who refuses to compromise on design and quality. Their philosophy is based on the simple principle of less is more. The furniture the brand designs is all made with recycled and sustainable sourced materials and circular economy is an important part of their design solution. The brand affirms to the principle that their furniture must be repaired, reused and recycled during and after “end of life cycle”. Wehlers adds to the Danish design tradition in which honesty is seen in the material, and form is defined from Scandinavian minimalism and function.

furnipart

furnipart is a Danish design company that since 1977 has designed and produced handles, knobs and profiles for kitchen and bath spaces. The company's primary focus remains on more sustainable production where it is possible. The Danish brand frequently collaborates with internationally renowned designers around their new collections, which span across drawers, cabinets and furniture in more than 60 countries. Furnipart is constantly renewing and developing products. Currently they are exhibiting their Cradle to Cradle certified handles and profiles in anodized aluminum as well as their handles in OceanIX. OceanIX is a plastic material from the Danish company PLASTIX in Lemvig, and it consists of recycled plastic from the maritime industry (ex. Discarded / damaged fishing nets, etc.)

applicata

applicata are currently showcasing an exclusive brass series dubbed Circle Collection. The Mush series consists of tealight holders of real, untreated brass with a top of stained glass, which can be easily disassembled for replacement or renewal. Finally, applicata also wants to present the company's artistic collection, which consists of decorated trays and reversible tapas-boards that both go for functional serving but can also be used as decorations - and of course the entire series is FSC certified and approved.

Embacco

Embacco will be showcasing at the Danish pavilion with the first design of acoustic commutes, which, due to its sound absorbing material, unites the good light with the good acoustics. Embacco has more than two decades of experience in lighting design for large Danish companies, and it has formed the framework for the MoM pendant series.

SOFACOMPANY

New Zealand-based SOFACOMPANY is exhibiting Circular cushions, created in collaboration with SHEworks, a socio-economic start-up studio where products are created by immigrant and, refugee women exclusively from donated leftover textiles. Sofacompany x SHEworks Atelier cushions are a magnificent example of how it is actually possible to reconcile sustainability, social responsibility and good quality. The design is inspired antique mosaic patterns, which make it possible to upcycle several different kinds of surplus textiles for new, stylish pillows.

WallPipe

Wallpipe is an innovative company that turns water and heating pipes into interior decor. Based on a need for more light at the evening table, Lisbeth began to develop lamps produced from used pipes, which have previously brought water and heat home throughout Denmark. The brand is currently showcasing wall and table lamps, which are made of recycled water pipes. In addition, they are working on a new development project where they have discovered another waste material - Garntubes: These tubes we will develop into lampshades and other innovative and sustainable products. The tubes are a residue of the yarn industry, where they are used to tie up yarns, and are usually thrown out after use.

FLID

Helmed by three women, FLID is a Danish a company that makes hand tools from upcycled wood and leather from the production of Danish design furniture. On the occasion of the festival, FLID displays hand tools from the top shelf – a hammer, a screwdriver with bits, a small flat screwdriver, a Japanese saw and not least a leather case for the tool which is all made from residual wood and leather.
