Milan-based designer Serena Confalonieri’s new collection of glass containers was recently displayed as part of an extended exhibit hosted by oTTo cose, a Milan-based design gallery and store. Following the theme of sustainability, the installation setup was also crafted by Confalonieri. Bearing a colourful and playful aesthetic, the inspiration behind the design of the exhibition space according to the designer was derived from the “Ideas of Retro Futurism and Space Age Futurism". Bringing a cohesive theme to Confalonieri’s aesthetic, the exhibit also comprised a space manicured by delicately detailed floral presentation in subtle pastel shades which is arranged and curated by Fiori e Colori, a local flower boutique located in the heart of Tuscany.
The Nebula Collection by Confalonieri comprises three sinuous shaped containers made out of hand blown borosilicate glass. Inspired by the lightness of smoke, the glass pieces appear like subtle objects that can double as decorative pieces in indoor settings. The curvilinear shape of the glass accessories and the traces of colourful hues visible in the glass pieces further add an element of surprise to the psychedelic objects. Confalonieri’s inspiration for this collection came from the myriad colours that dot the Nebulae.
Serena Confalonieri is a Milan-based designer and art director whose work ranges across several disciplines, namely product design, interior design, graphic design and textile design. Her designs and creations are characterised by a distinctly playful, colourful and vibrant aesthetic, owing to the extensive usage of bold colours and sharp geometric shapes.
Some of Confalonieri’s recent projects include the design of interior products like the Laki rug, the Archie table and urban projects that include the Città Studi mural and the Quadra plaza design, all of which carry her distinctive design imprint, carrying with them an infectious playfulness that renders the space around them with the same energy.
