Denmark based design brand, Room Copenhagen, has recently unveiled LEGO’s first-ever collection of wooden home accessories. As part of the ongoing collaboration between the Danish design brand and LEGO, this collection is perhaps the first time in the last 60 years that the toy brand has launched wooden products. “LEGO is a unique brand with strong values and we are delighted to bring this new collection to market,” says Jacob Eberhard, CEO at Room Copenhagen.

The studio, part of the Nordic Houseware Group A/S, operates on the philosophy of ‘Playful Nordic Design'. Their designs are simply made and are simple to use, as well. Their collaboration with LEGO has led them to borrow the most definitive features of the toy brand and enhance them to deliver utility-based products that can become a permanent feature in indoor spaces.

“Room Copenhagen is well versed in creating and producing upscaled LEGO bricks for child-friendly storage and organisation, expanding it to the product line for adults. We trialled it with the launch of the wooden minifigure and the success of that product inspired us to bring out an entire range in the same material,” shares Eberhard.

Ascribing to Scandinavian sensibilities, the full range of products is available in a neutral colour palette, unostentatious yet visually aesthetic, unassuming yet thoroughly utilitarian. The LEGO HOME collection is designed to appeal to a more mature demographic, while also encouraging its users to reminisce about their childhood lego-playing days.

The collection comprises several wall hanger sets, picture frames, book racks and desk drawers in two finishes: soaped oak and dark stained oak finish. Neutral and laidback, the products can be used in almost all kinds of spaces and fit in with a wide range of aesthetics. Designed to scale according to the original LEGO brick dimensions, the items in the collection can be assembled manually and can easily be stacked against each other.
