Designed by Ptang Studio Limited for Covet Collection Design Editions, the Objects of Nature collection consists of functional and minimalistic furniture pieces. In tandem with Ptang Studios ethos of getting-back-to-basics, the new collection uses simple and identifiable shapes that blend seamlessly with contemporary decor. The capsule collection has been designed with easy forms and natural textures that create a calm and harmonious atmosphere. Ergonomically designed to bring the outdoors home, the collection takes inspiration from Stonehenge, one of the most recognisable historical monuments in the world. The theme ‘Objects of Nature’ defines the different series in the collection including living, dining, table and casegoods.

With each furniture design the studio aimed to build an instinctual relationship between each piece and its user. Structures set in stone along with timber circles are the cohesive elements across the different series. With a sublime influence of Japanese elements like the Tome-Ishi, a small stone ‘bean’ used in Japanese zen gardens is a signature feature that ties together the collection.

All the pieces in the collection have a subtle yet distinctive contemporary design. Using textiles and contrasting colours, the furniture pieces have a clean and streamlined design with a unique aesthetic appeal. The Sarsen Modular Sofa and Armchair are heavily influenced by the setting of the stones in the Stonehenge, they feature fabrics with stone-like hues with detailed stitching to give a sleek and luxurious look. The Dovedale tables and consoles employ forms and colours that are reminiscent of the low-lying stones which emerge above the waters. Masterfully incorporating the unifying feature of the granite stone and a tempered glass top for a contemporary interior design style. The Heel Stone Dining Table, uses stone with a highly textured surface and carved shape which is highlighted in a tri-colour finish to emulate the sky and light cast on the Heel Stone during different seasons of the year. With this new collection Philip Tang & Brian Ip from Studio Ptang seek to develop a fresh and unique style that transcends existing boundaries and widens the horizon of design.
