The Molteni Group opens its flagship store in the Italian capital, testifying to the central role of the brand in the global scenario of contemporary design. The prestigious location of the flagship store enjoys international visibility in the centre of Rome, within the historic Palazzo Menotti, a few steps from the Supreme Court of Cassation. Located in a strategic position, Palazzo Menotti is situated in one of the oldest neighbourhoods, the Rione Colonna, a vibrant place full of history in the financial and political centre of the capital.

The flagship store was created in collaboration with Frattali, which since 1963 has been an important reference point in the capital for the design and planning of furniture, in collaboration with the best brands of Made in Italy, in an ongoing dialogue between innovation and tradition. The space encloses the complete Molteni&C and Dada proposal and symbolises the spirit of a unique, evolving, contemporary project that is faithful to the design principles of the Molteni Group.

The flagship store, covering more than 300 square metres and featuring seven large windows, is set over two levels and is connected by a staircase. The architectural concept considered the preservation of the historical characteristics of the building as an added value while retaining its volumes. The partition walls create generous volumetrics, interspersed with arches that serve to define the space.

The entrance is particularly dramatic, featuring two of the building’s majestic and historical columns. An iconic and unique travertine staircase blends harmoniously with the store concept. The visitor’s experience unfolds in a material path, where the chosen lighting guides the visitor to immersion in the environment, to the suggestion and emotion of the alternation between space and the geometries of the products. Sophisticated materials and welcoming colours alternate with various shades of grey and bone colour. The space is warm, dimensional, fluid and always legible through distinctive details. The impressive showroom houses, frames and enhances the products in the new Molteni&C|Dada collections.

Finally, the setting on the first floor is dedicated to the great icons of the Molteni&C|Dada collections. The Paul sofa, the 505 UP system, the Intersection kitchen, the Marteen seating system and the Gliss Master wardrobe system find value in each setting, interspersed with iconic Gio Ponti pieces and a selection of elements from the Heritage Collection. Ample space in the display window is dedicated to the kitchen area furnished with a scenic Ratio in breccia capraia marble and thermo oak wood. The lower floor is preceded by the descent of the staircase and opens up with elegant living and night-time areas where the iconic Arc table, the Hector Night wardrobe system and the Ribbon bed are located. To mark the opening, the new store in Rome will be enriched with a series of works by contemporary artists thereby strengthening the partnership with the art curator Caroline Corbetta for The Collector’s House project.
