Johanna Gullichsen established in 1989, is a textile brand which specialises in honest design and modern interpretation of Scandinavian textile traditions. The Finnish brand is presenting an exciting new collection in collaboration with a wallpaper company Feathr. Two Johanna Gullichsen designs -Nereus and Raita- will be available for the first time as wallpapers in a wide spectrum of stunning classic and contemporary colours.

The new collection is a direct interpretation of Johanna Gullichsen's distinctive design style. "Handweaving with the loom is my inspiration for exploring techniques and patterns. That's how most of my designs are born. Craft is a living design tool for me, always included in the narrative of my textiles, so I’m delighted to see how flawlessly my designs have transposed from textiles to wallcoverings,” says Gullichsen.

The Nereus is a modern interpretation of old Finnish weaving traditions. Nereus, part of Johanna Gullichsen’s Normandie collection, is inspired by the era of luxury ocean liners - a laidback approach for travelling. It consists of clear and rhythmical patterns constructed of squares and blocks. Raita meaning ‘stripe’ in Finnish has a calm and subtle nature which provides the perfect backdrop to Nereus. Both the designs skillfully contrast each other and showcase their structured geometric form by retaining organic, uneven lines that represent Gullichsen’s original handweaving on the loom.

“Our whole ethos is about bringing incredible creative talent into wallpaper design: Johanna is a Finnish design legend, so we are very excited to be collaborating with her. Her designs look stunning as wallcoverings, and we’re thrilled to be helping to introduce her designs to a whole new audience,” says Tom Puukko, Founder of Feathr. The two wallpapers are uniquely designed to be used both individually as well as side by side, with complementary design characteristics and color schemes. Both designs come in a wide range of matching colours including classic pearl, alabaster, rich ochre, along with hues of blue.
