De Padova played an important role in the history of Italian design when it started importing Scandinavian furniture into the country in the 1950s. Growing over the decades, De Padova consistently borrowed inspiration from Scandinavian design and produced high-end interior products, which included both office furniture and home furniture, using an eclectic mix of materials that help define the modern living experience. Simple, sleek and minimal, the Wigmore Shelving System by De Padova is characterised by the most elemental shapes and geometries. The shelves use narrow anodised extruded aluminium cross-pieces and almost razor thin aluminium sheets to create a puzzling yet structurally sound piece of furniture.

De Padova, the R&D department and the brand's centre of creativity, comes through with a polished and intelligent design that incorporates corrosion resistant and extremely light materials to create this inconspicuous shelf that seamlessly blends in with your modern decor, letting the stored objects on the shelves become the centre of attention.

In 2015, the Italian brand joined hands with four other studios and came under Boffi|DePadova to achieve a unanimous vision of delivering highly sophisticated and elegant interiors. De Padova is famous for creating sumptuous furniture heavily relying on thin metal frames without compromising on quality and structural stability. The Wigmore shelf does exactly that uses a single metal structure and thin sheets with hidden light accents that emphasise the simplistic and elegant design.

The cross sections create a bold modular grid system and the use of industrial materials is the epitome of contemporary Italian design. The shelves are made of 2.5 mm thin aluminum sheets that are cut with laser precision and bent to provide incomparable resistance lending the furniture a distinctive design. The drawer system which uses a soft clasping mechanism is made from aluminum sheets with handles derived from creating smart folds while maintaining the consistency and high-end feel of the design piece.

The dimmable light accents attached to the vertical structures helps create a distinct and gloomy aura around the shelf system radiating a halo doubling as a decorative light fixture. De Padova brings forth the nuances of contemporary interior design, by assimilating minimal looks and industrial materials to create sleek yet bold pieces of design.
