From February 2 – 8, 2025, Stockholm Design Week, organised by the Stockholm Furniture Fair, transformed the city of Stockholm, Sweden, into a global hub for contemporary design this year. It aims to advance the Scandinavian design industry globally and engage both professionals and design enthusiasts in its faceted programme and offerings.
Amid the myriad dynamic exhibitions, events and open showrooms, &Tradition, a Copenhagen-based brand built on the Danish legacy of craftsmanship and design, unveiled an array of its new collections and reissued classics, demonstrating its "ongoing dedication to creating designs rooted in originality, while honouring iconic forms of the past. The exhibit [offered] an opportunity to discover a new collection for the first time through a display that further reaffirms the creative identity of &Tradition as a brand", the brand's press release mentions.
A key highlight of this showcase at the Stockholm Design Week this year was Italian designer Luca Nichetto's new product designs for the brand's collection. The displayed designs, including the Gio Pendant and Muno lounge series, demonstrated Nichetto's expertise in material experimentation, refined detailing and cultural storytelling. "Curated to establish a tangible connection between Nichetto's Italian heritage and his affinity for Scandinavian design, the presentation serves as an ode to legacy and cultural identity," the press release states.
Open from February 4 – 7, 2025, this showcase provided insight into Nichetto's design philosophy, featuring early sketches and tactile samples, emphasising his focus on artisanal excellence and innovation. "Driven by curiosity, Luca Nichetto works to craft compelling ideas through the lens of interdisciplinary design. His portfolio is comprised of works that display artistic expression, reminiscent of the Murano glass-making industry that shaped his formative years as a young designer, while also embodying the Swedish spirit of modernity and sustainability," conveys the press release.
Beyond Nichetto's work, &Tradition also introduced works from other international designers at its Stockholm showroom during the design week, including OEO Studio's debut collection and reissued mid-century classics by Hvidt & Mølgaard, reinforcing the brand's legacy in Danish design.
