Born in Kenya, Africa and now based in Cape Town, Stanislaw Trzebinski's artistic practices draws inspiration from physical and psychological experiences from his childhood. Pieces crafted by him are based on contemporary art and technology-driven techniques manifested as evocative bronze sculptures. Being exposed to mineral organics and coastal landscapes growing up has influenced the application of mutable patina finishes integrated with elements of natural forms and textures.

Investec Cape Town Art Fair commencing from 17 to 19 February 2023 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, will also feature an exciting new piece by EBONY/CURATED at the art festival. The theme for this year explores the notion of time, which delves into the crucial aspect of change that comes with time’s progression for both humanity and the environment.

"The technically challenging artwork I have been working on for the art fair is an intricate interplay between man and nature. The portrait is formed using Turing patterns which are a common motif throughout much of my recent work and speak to our innate connection with the natural world and the growing divide between humanity and the environment, particularly in the age of virtual realityartificial intelligence, and excessive screen time. It is a meditation on the importance of reconnecting with the world around us and the need to preserve the fragile balance between humanity and the environment," shares Trzebinski.

Although it's a work in progress, Trzebinski shares some dynamic behind-the-scenes shots of this piece with you, to grasp the essence of what is to come! A dynamic exploration of varying dialogues between form and nature is manifested in this piece. Forms of fungi, coral, minerals and the earth itself are abstracted into this sculptural piece. Alchemical processes of the changing nature of patina, mutable to the environment the piece is subjected to add character to the piece. Bear in mind that the images are of the naked bronze, and the intent is to make it quite colourful and shiny.
