Paolo Castelli unveils Ipanema at Maison & Objet 2022

Italian furniture design and lighting design brand, Paolo Castelli is currently showcasing their new furniture collection, Ipanema, at two locations in Paris, as part of the design event, Maison&Objet 2022, taking place in the city from 24 March 2022 to 28 March 2022. Designed by Thierry Lemaire, and produced in collaboration with maison française Métaphores, the collection embodies the characteristic features of the Italian brand. Elegant lines and satin velvet linery imbue the pieces with a rich texture, granting them the status of bespoke pieces. Apart from the unveiling of the Ipanema collection, the presentation by Paolo Castelli also includes a showcase of the Greenkiss capsule collection at the design fair.

While the Ipanema collection is characterised by compositional features that serve as new offerings in the space of upholstered seating, the Greenkiss collection is the first outdoor furniture collection by the brand. Both of these collections mark a new and important chapter in the company’s path and serve as elegant and classy additions to their large list of offerings.

The Ipanema collection, designed by French architect and designer Thierry Lemaire for the ‘Inspiration’ line by Paolo Castelli, comprises sofas, armchairs and coffee tables. Created to highlight the sophistication and timeless elegance associated with French furnishings, each product in the collection is made out of high quality materials and utilises expert craftsmanship. Although defined by pure lines and clean edges, the sofas and armchairs never appear rigid or taut, but instead welcome users to occupy them with ease. The combination of Nickel finished metal frames, coloured matte black and gold against the soft seats that cushion the sofas balance out the sinuous curves and lines that characterise the items in the collection.

The upholstery fabric of the seating cushions is made out of polyester fibre and houses an insert of non-deformable material. The back cushions and armrests, on the other hand, are crafted out of polyurethane, with an infill of polyester fibre that ensures optimal support and additional padding with sterilised goose down to facilitate comfort and softness. The usage of these high quality materials, in addition to the satin silk velvet that features as the skin of the cushions, imbues the pieces with a shinier and softer texture. The silk, manufactured by French furnishing fabric brand, Métaphores Paris, holds a special relevance in French history and dates back to the Renaissance period.

The sofas and armchairs are soft to touch and come in several shades and hues of different colours, thus rendering them both visually and tactilely impressive. The Ipanema table further completes the collection with its rarefied presence. Its matte black metal structure is in conjunction with the materials used in the sofas and armchairs. Additionally, it also comes in three different versions, namely Grand noir Antique, Calacatta and Sahara Noir, which serve to fit in with all the different variations of the sofas and armchairs.

The Ipanema collection and Greenkiss outdoor collection by Paolo Castelli will remain on display from 23 March 2022 to 28 March 2022 at Bac - Silvera and at the brand’s showroom in Boulevard Saint-Germain in Paris, France.
