Screening of the installation by Wim Wenders Rossini multiplex cinema, Venice 22 - 23 April 2022
After the success of the exhibition "Le lien des mondes" in 2017, Claudine Drai, a refined artist French that has always investigated the relationship between matter and immaterial, between presence and absence, returns in Venice in conjunction with the 59th International Art Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia with an unpublished project that involves the cinematographic genius of Wim Wenders with a film dedicated to the artist. Palazzo Grassi, Pinault Collection in collaboration with Cultura Venezia premieres Présence, a new video installation by the German director, at the Cinema Rossini multiplex in Venice and a selected selection of the artist's works will be exhibited at ACP - Art Capital Partners Palazzo Franchetti, in the fascinating spaces of the second Noble Floor, which today, in addition to important exhibition halls, it also houses the Morandiana Library. In 2017, when the exhibition project “Le lien des mondes” was founded on the interaction between contemporary art, poetry, culinary art and high fashion by bringing together the starred chef Guy Martin, the stylist Hubert Barrère and the writer Olivier Kaeppelin alongside the artist, also on this occasion the exhibition is full of contaminations between different worlds and draws strength from this synaesthesia of creative voices.
The installation shot in 3D between 2020 and 2021 explores the artistic universe of Claudine Drai through an evocative rather than narrative visual story, thus creating a unique work. Wim Wenders was mesmerized and deeply moved by Claudine Drai's work when he first met her. He perceived his unique and distinctly different art from anything he had ever seen, at the same time so highly emotional and evocative. On the one hand, the director felt the desire to learn more about this mysterious spiritual realm made mostly of paper. On the other hand, Claudine Drai instead felt she could trust Wim Wenders with his fragile and poetic world. In their subsequent talks and meetings, they have therefore decided to venture together into unknown territory, going beyond a simple vision giving life to a common creation, different from any cinematographic category and without rules or existing art forms. While preserving the mystery of the film, the exhibition created by ACP - Art Capital Partners in collaboration with the Clavé Fine Art gallery, is a first look into the world of Claudine Drai.
Screening in the presence of the artist and director. The modalities of participation will be communicated shortly.
Some screening places are reserved for the press.
Claudine Drai
Claudine Drai, born in Paris in 1951, combines paper, bronze, perfume, words and light in her works. In the years, she has thus invented worlds and spaces in which the sensation of matter awakens all our senses. The nature of her of her art of her is transformation. In 1994 she embarked on her first perfume research, dedicating herself to writing texts and integrating the sense of smell into her creations, which she continues to pursue today. She has produced numerous works for public commissions, in particular a monumental sculpture for the atrium of the Saint-Camille hospital in Bry-sur-Marne (Caisse des Dépôts et Consignation patronage). In 2008 she has designed a triptych in tissue paper and pigments on canvas for the ecumenical space of the Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport: a universalist work that weaves a link between the three monotheistic religions. All time at Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport, a sculpture was inaugurated in 2016, made in homage to victims of the attacks, with the support of the ADP group.
